Hi, as some of you may know, I am in the process of working on a feature film project. The script is coming together very well and I think you guys will love the movie.
In the movie we will be featuring a a fictional early 80's arcade developer and a fictional arcade game. This character and his history is important to the plot (don't want to give too much away yet).
I have a few ideas for what this game could be, but I was thinking about running a little contest on here to get some other ideas from the community.
Would anybody be interested in participating in something like this? What prizes would you most like? Game stuff? Cash? I could possibly get some Keith Apicary-signed items.

This kinda sounds like it takes some points from the new Wreck-It Ralph movie by disney IMO.
But sure a contest sounds fun, I don't really care about what the prizes are honestly.
Would the game ever actually get made though?

Yea Wreck It Ralph did it first, but the movies couldn't be more different fortunately. Mine is a live action comedy (best described as a mix of Arrested Development, Groundhog Day, and The Wizard). Got some great actors interested, but needing to wait until the script is finished before I can get some definite commitments.
The game would get made and would be part of the Kickstarter reward packages. I'm considering having it actually developed as a real NES game so we could have some cartridges made as well.
At the very least though, it will be a PC/Mac game.

Oh, okay. I honestly don't have any ideas, and it doesn't seem anyone is interested yet. Sorry for being no real help :/

No worries. I guess I need to just come up with the rules and prizes and then just announce it. I thought people would have some suggestions for prizes. Oh well. Thanks!

I think game stuff would interest a lot of people. If you did some of those complete packages for different consoles--e.g. a console of your choice, two controllers, 2-3 classic games from that console, and a copy of the game as you propose might get developed.
You might be able to do some themed prizes, IE a grand prize flight to the filming location and the opportunity to watch filming or having a small part in the film.
You can do other minor prizes, gift certificates, swag from your movie, or other related things.
I'd never turn down Keith Apicary signed stuff though!

Blu's on to something there. I don't think we can (not saying we would) ask more from you if your doing this just as an indie film on a tight budget just for a game idea.

You should make a game that is like Groundhog Day where you can play it over and over, but in a different way each time. Sort of like the game Every Day The Same Dream (which I HIGHLY recommend playing for anyone that hasn't).
