I'll try this one through the NES again. I have never beat it and don't remember how far we ever got (played at my buddy's house).
:?: AFAIK, the Wii version is a direct port of All-Stars on SNES.

Also, sat down tonight and beat the game legit. Probably gonna start through SMB 3 again for fun.
I believe you're correct, I don't have the SNES version (hmm, I'll check) of Mario All Stars so the commentary may or may not fit both versions. It could absolutely just be me also.

I picked up the original NES copy of this recently, so I'll give it a play through. I beat the game on the Wii All-Stars version not too long back though, so I'm not especially excited about playing this. I'd play the Wii version again to compare, but it's been packed alongside lots of other games ready for my move to London.

I have some suggestions ready for next year too, so I'm looking forward to the discussion in a month or two.

Finally, this month: I will beat Super Mario Advance. I got this game about five years ago but never beat it.

I'm up to World 3-2. I kind of wish I had the NES version but I'll be honest, I'm not sure I would have the patience to play through the whole game in one sitting.

Got all six coins. Making my way through Mario's stolen castle. Bunny Ears power up is really helpful.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

There was a time much much earlier in my life where I'd spend entire days on games like SMB2 and SMB3 and do them straight through, no warps. With age comes the ability to save, and that's a great feature on the SMA games. I just like how much MORE they add to the original.

So in Super Mario Advance there's a pretty easily exploitable "get a ton of lives" bug in level 3-3. I'm now in 4-1 with around 45 extra lives.

Does anyone know if that's in any of the other versions?

Thanks to noise I'm joining in. SMB. 2, on the nes for me. My goal is to beat the game with every character.

I never even remember picking Toad more than twice in my life.

Looking forward to the chatter.

Defeated Wario and reclaimed the castle. Great game!

I never had a problem with lives in this game. It's pretty easy to rack them up in the bonus game. I'm able to get three cherries every time if I try. I sometimes lose a few lives on the ice levels because I am too hasty, but they are pretty much infinite in this game, on the NES at least.

I'd be astonished if anyone who played this game at release didn't heavily use toad. The ability to pull coins fast was very attractive to kids my age. Princess was always my least used because she lifted so slowly and the floating ability isn't very useful outside of world 4. Luigi can reach most of the places she can, and is better overall.
