Oddly enough, I have noticed that the impacts always looked slightly different on PSX for some reason; now that clears that up.
Yup. They actually look very different if you compare the 2. On PSX you get these wild little spark pieces made up of polygons that fly off of your opponent. I still perfer the original hit sprites though. But its real cool that they found a way to make the most out of the limited hardware.

CD Ages...not being condescending, at all, but...relax. Exclamation points and throwing around that everyone who believes this port to be excellent is "lying!" is like, sorta overboard.
I actually am, but duly noted on the Exclamation points
But you're right, it is overboard at least for me. I've been hearing it for so long that the SAT version is better than the PSX version. It's just not true. It's not true for this game, nor SSF2T on SF collection. The Saturn ports on every other 2D fighter is too its credit, significantly better versions than whats on PSX, but from my personal experience, It is not true for these 2 games... and if there are others, I have yet to discover them (2D fighting games on both platforms).
It sounds like you've been involved in this debate, heavily, quite a bit before
Not really. Only one other time and that was recently. It's just been too long of a predicament of having hear and read one thing... only to be an entirely different conclusion when put into practice.
My opinion, and the opinion of many others, is that it is an excellent port. The reasons you claim it isn't, to me are either unfounded, or the ones that are founded, are just small / pointless that only elitists would worry about.
If that's the case, then what justifies the PSX version from being as accepted as the SAT version is... regardless of its faults whether big or small.
Show me something drastic, as outlined above, and i'm on your side.
I've been working on a review for quite some time... so i may just post it on the Review section here if anyone is remotely interested.
It sounds like your passionate about this, that's great, and you probably have a lot of knowledge as well, also great, but I think you are confusing EXACT port with Excellent port. Most of us (again, I think) are looking for a very good or excellent port, not necessarily exact, because those are VERY tough to come by.
I am. For the genre as a whole, but particularly those fighting games that i grew up playing as a teen and devoted so much time to.
Now, answer fox's question, because i've played the board
I take it by board you mean the CPSII version of the game? i simply ask because I've never had the opportunity to play the NAOMI version of the game (Zero3 Upper). It's the only version of Alpha 3 I have yet to actually spend some time playing.

Your multi-quotes are admirable, beyond my patience, that's for sure.

Yes, referring to the CPS2 board of Zero 3. I've not played Upper, either. It is pretty uncommon stateside.

And here I was afraid it would be deemed annoying. I just want to make sure there is no misinterpretation in my responses. I feel I have enough on my plate having to get side of the argument across.

Yes, its a rather elusive board. I hope to one day come across it as the arcade scene in my area is rather healthy.
