If you like rhythm games for gameplay, get Rhythm Thief. If you like them for their soundtrack, get Final Fantasy Theaterhythm.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
Tell me more about Rhythm Thief. I can definitely agree on Theatrhythm being nostalgia-central, but the gameplay is pretty ehhhhhhhhhhh.. Alright.GameMasterGuy wrote:If you like rhythm games for gameplay, get Rhythm Thief. If you like them for their soundtrack, get Final Fantasy Theaterhythm.
Anyway, I did end up picking up a 3DS XL and Resident Evil: Revelations today. Screen protectors went on smoothly. They're clear instead of my preferred matte, but there were no listings for matte screen protectors on eBay at the time I ordered.
Also considered Super Mario 3D Land and OoT. But RE:R looks appealing because it supposedly touches the series' roots a bit more instead of being all action like RE5.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I've only played a bit of Rhythm Thief (more than just the demo, though), but the big thing going for it is variety. The demo stages had one that was basically press the direction the dancer pressed on the last beat, one was tap the color of the statue you're approaching to the beat to hide behind it, and another was press the attacks to the rhythm on the sides that the enemies are jumping from. The two my friend showed me were obvious shout outs to Samba De Amigo and Space Channel 5. I have no idea just how many of these game types there are, but there certainly seems to be a lot.ZenErik wrote:Tell me more about Rhythm Thief. The Theatrhythm Final Fantasy demo is now available on the North American eshop.
Took 'em long enough.

Nice. Got a 20% off a used game coupon at GS. Now to get Super Mario 3D Land or OoT. Or maybe even Cave Story 3D, but they never have it.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
3DL is completely new content, OOT is just a remake. While I do think that OOT is the better of the two, you could just get the cheaper original version of OOT.ZenErik wrote:Nice. I could emulate it. Do not have and will likely never own a N64.GameMasterGuy wrote:3DL is completely new content, OOT is just a remake. But then it wouldn't be portable.

There's also GC and Wii versions, both cheaper.ZenErik wrote:I could emulate it. Do not have and will likely never own a N64.GameMasterGuy wrote:3DL is completely new content, OOT is just a remake. But then it wouldn't be portable.I am a big fan of having the opportunity to play games on the go. I doesn't bother me if it's also on a home console. That's why I love the Vita's PS3 ports. Hope they bring out more soon.
Or yeah, you could pirate it if you're into that kind of thing.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
Or I could get the 3DS version and play it on the go like I want to do. Thanks.
Re: Nintendo 3DS
But if you get the GC version it gives you the perfect excuse to make your GC into a portable.ZenErik wrote:Or I could get the 3DS version and play it on the go like I want to do. Thanks.
