"Upgrade" to 3DS XL or not?
I have an original model 3DS that I really like. I currently have more DS games than 3DS games but, the balance is starting to shift.
But what's the consensus 'round these parts? Is it worth the "upgrade" from the original flavor to the XL or what?
All opinions welcome!

Well if you want a bigger screen the answer is pretty obvious. You can sell your old 3DS to recoup a lot of the money to buy the XL.
Plus, the screen being larger makes it a speck more viable to use the original resolution on regular DS games (which doesn't fill the screen yet is pixel-sharp) rather than the stretched mode on the 3DS (making everything blurry).

As I am going to eventually get a 3DS XL, I plan to wait until we get some more color options, and also hopefully for a price reduction. Since I already own a 3DS, there's no rush on my part.
That's what I recommend doing, in any case.

Hmmm... I guess DS games aren't perfect on the orignal 3DS but I think they look good enough.dogman91 wrote:Well if you want a bigger screen the answer is pretty obvious. You can sell your old 3DS to recoup a lot of the money to buy the XL.

Shoot, maybe I ought to pick up a DSi XL for DS games and keep my original 3DS

Is the screen size of the 3DS XL the same as the DSi XL?

Foxhound1022 got the 3ds not a month later they did the price drop then the zelda 3ds which he had to have for christmas. I would wait to see if the 3dsxl drops as fast as the original 3ds due to a slow start and price tag.

I had the original 3DS and now I have the XL. For me it's definitely worth it. My hand no longer feels cramped when using the d-pad. The bigger screens are great. Battery life is a little better. The device feels more solid. And the colors look better in person than in pictures. 3D effect seems a little nicer on the larger screen too. Not sure why.

I'd do it, but wait until your favorite color or a real neat special edition is released.

Yea. I think the blue looks quite nice in person, but I'd gladly take white or purple over it. The purple 3DS looks great. So do the white ones from Japan both regular and XL.

This seems to me to be the biggest benefit. My hands definitely feel cramped during longer sessions on the o3DS (ZenErik wrote:My hand no longer feels cramped when using the d-pad.
