Why would he be a pirate in the other games but not the first one? That makes little sense. It was just a wardrobe change.

And I tried to look for a pic of the map after you get to the ship, and I could only find incomplete map pics in a Google Image search. So I went to YouTube:

Maybe the skulls and crossbones are the symbols of his people? Who are we to judge? In Roman times the cross was a feared shape for the way of execution it symbolized. Now we have it on so many flags.

He's not a pirate in the other games, just the second one. He's a mad scientist in the third one.

The only reason he had a ship in the first game was so that he could reach DK Island. I doubt Funky would have flown him to the island, being the douche bag that he is, so he needed a ship to get there. He presumably commandeered the ship from a pirate. Then after his plans were foiled, decided to be a pirate for the second game.

If you can't tell, I'm not really taking this argument seriously. But my actual opinion is that he's not suppose to be a pirate in the first game, just the second. I mean, he's clearly suppose to be a mad scientist in the third game. He's clearly suppose to be a pirate in the second game. But I don't think he was suppose to be a pirate in the first game.
