Finally, some good comic book non-animated TV. I'd be more excited if it was a DC show, but this is still great.BurningDoom wrote:http://www.superherohype.com/news/artic ... mes-to-abc
Freaking awesome! It was revealed earlier this month that Joss Whedon had signed an exclusive deal with Marvel Studios to, among other things, help develop a new live action series for Marvel Television at ABC. Today, Deadline has revealed that, now greenlit by ABC, the series will be titled "S.H.I.E.L.D." and will focus on the top secret defense organization featured throughout the Marvel cinematic universe.
Whedon will write the pilot alongside his brother, Jed Whedon, and Maurissa Tancharoen (who previously worked with Whedon on "Dollhouse" and "Doctor Horrible's Sing-Along Blog". All three will also join Jeffrey Bell and Jeph Loeb as executive producers. The site notes that Whedon may also direct the pilot, but that nothing is confirmed at this time.
It remains to be seen which, if any, actors and/or characters from the Marvel Studios films are planned to appear on the show, though it's very likely that "S.H.I.E.L.D" will have direct ties to future Marvel Studios cinematic entries, including the Whedon scripted and directed Marvel's The Avengers 2, set for release on May 1, 2015.
As always, check back for more details as they become available.

Agreed. One thing DC needs to do is start with a recognizable character, establish their role in the big picture and pepper the movie with visual references as done in Iron Man.
Thinking about JLA I'm actually anticipating the one character some people may not be looking forward to: Aquaman. And for the first time I want a movie in 3D. A spectacular 3D underwater action experience, using real aquatic life as much as possible. Forget silly blue people and military vehicles, I want to feel like I'm underwater. Show me schools of fish swimming directly at me. Show the depths of the ocean floor. I'd even be happy to see Aquaman summon a whale to attack a submarine.
So far I think Aquaman would be the easiest to screw up, but also has the most potential to be a stand out hit.

Re: The Comic Book Thread
Thought this was a pretty cool article, and wanted to share.
It's about the history of the portrayal of Batman in movies, on T.V.. and in cartoons. It starts with the 1940s Batman serial, and ends with the Christopher Nolan Trilogy:

I wouldn't have. Looks completely gimmicky. JLA and Transformers are 2 completely different universes that just don't fit together very well.flojocabron wrote:I so would have bought this if it were real......![]()

Avengers/Transformers didn't look good to me either.

The CW Plans "Wonder Woman" Series
The CW, which last year passed on David E. Kelley's proposed television revival of Wonder Woman because of its price tag, is reportedly planning its own take of DC Comics' iconic superheroine.
According to Vulture, the project is being written by Allan Heinberg, whose television credits include "Sex and the City," "The O.C." and "Grey's Anatomy." However, he's probably better known to comics fans as the co-creator of Marvel's "Young Avengers" who helped to relaunch DC's "Wonder Woman" in 2006.
Called simply "Amazon," the series would be an origin story focusing on Wonder Woman as a young superhero. "Think 'Smallville,'" the website writes, "but instead of a 'no tights, no flights' rule, this show might have a 'no bracelets, no crown' mandate." The Warner Bros. Television project is only in the script stage; no pilot has been greenlit.
News of "Amazon" comes more than a year after NBC rejected Kelley's "Wonder Woman" pilot, which starred Adrianne Palicki as a successful corporate executive who fights crime in Los Angeles while trying to balance the elements of her extraordinary life. Announced in October 2010, the revival seemed shaky almost from the start, with Kelley revealing two months later that he hadn’t “necessarily committed” to the project. However, when he did commit, Warner Bros. encountered difficulty finding a home for the pilot, with all the broadcast networks initially passing on "Wonder Woman" before NBC changed course in late January. That was followed by negative reaction to a leaked draft of the script and then the first look at Palicki in a costume.
The CW, a joint venture of DC Comics parent company Warner Bros. and CBS Corporation, was the longtime home of "Smallville," which ended its 10-season run last year. The network will debut "Arrow," based on DC's Green Arrow, Oct. 10.
