As a gamer who is constantly looking for more immersive experiences (currently by means of a projector), i am extremely happy to see a company moving into this territory!

VR cant come soon enough, specifically for games like Elder Scrolls and Fallout!

I got a chance to try this at Valve a month back; I was nauseous within about 15 minutes. It's definitely the best VR solution out there, but the resolution on the screens is still pretty bad. It's nowhere near as crisp as you'd get on a regular monitor.

Why were you at Valve? That's interesting that it made you sick. I'd be curious to try it, but I don't think I would be able to use it all that much (my wife would get on me for shutting everybody out).

I'd won a trip to Valve at the last Child's Play Charity Auction, and TF2 on the Rift was one of the things we got to see. Once they officially announced it we were free to talk about it.

For me I feel like the big thing that made me sick was the disconnect between how far I'd move my head and how far the screen would move; you turn your head a little and the screen moved a lot. I think the disconnect between visual and my inner ear is what did it; I'm also prone to carsickness if I try to read in the car.

I also think it's just poor for FPSs. The sort of game it would be good for is things like flight sims and MechWarrior Online, where you control a vehicle using a keyboard/controller, but the VR lets you check to the sides to give you greater awareness of your surroundings. With an FPS you already are using a mouse to move your view around quickly, so being able to look to the side would either be another way to move your crosshairs (so now you have to compensate and move the mouse when you turn your head back to staring forward if you want to keep moving in the same direction) or now you desync your view with your crosshairs.

I'm down for the idea ... I'm just going to hold off until there's a higher resolution unit. I'd also really like to see a rear touch screen on this thing ... maybe that'll be a custom mod I'll have to do eventually.

I got my kit in last week. It's really cool, but the same problems others have mentioned.

Low screen res. In FPS it'shard to see the enemy and there is a lot of screen door effect.

And I got extremely nauseous within 15 minutes, but my teenage kids didn't.

All that being said, it is pretty awesome.
