It's definitely an easily noticeable improvement. Just compare the Quake 4 and Rage screenshots while hiding the CoD screens, or vice versa. The difference is monumental.D.D.D. wrote:The difference in textures and geometry is pretty big. Not huge like on the PC but a big difference nonetheless.

I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes.

I have wanted this for many years.D.D.D. wrote:I think we need to have Nintendo-OS, Sony-OS and MS-OS made by those companies and just install them on a PC that's upgradable and uses each companies controller or whatever.

This is a real jump from the beginning of a console to the end (PS1):Rocketman wrote:It's definitely an easily noticeable improvement. King's Field:

Resident Evil 3: Nemesis

Super Mario Bros. (NES):

Super Mario Bros. 3 (NES):

In 7 years difference, there really isn't a huge difference in the pics posted before for this generation. It seems like nitpicking to me.
Obviously textures and facial features and such have gotten better, but not by a huge leap like most consoles.

The irony. A post on a retro gaming website about a console generation lasting too long.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

King's Field? The graphics there don't even compare with prior PC software-only 3D engines. At least you could have used Ridge Racer.

Okay, I could have. But it still doesn't hold a candle to RE3. So the point still stands. I chose King's Field because I'm a huge fan and it sticks out as a launch title in my mind.Zing wrote:King's Field? The graphics there don't even compare with prior PC software-only 3D engines. King's Field wasn't a launch title... but it was still a good example of early graphics versus later ones.BurningDoom wrote: Okay, I could have. But it still doesn't hold a candle to RE3.
