I see it less as laziness, and more that the newer systems offer better (or at least cheaper) connectivity.fastbilly1 wrote:Oh yeah, I play everything on my Wii. So awkward to pop in a gamecube game and then have to fumble with the wii remote and then have to put it back to use your gamecube controller.
Wii needs an auto-start.
Really good point, although it shouldn't be your deciding info.

Since I've seen homebrew mentioned a couple of times in this thread..AppleQueso wrote:Gamecube is better because when you put a disc in and hit the power button, the game actually starts up right away instead of making fumble the wii remote around and hit that icon on the menu and then hit "Start".

A quick install of the Homebrew Channel followed by Priiloader solves this problem. You can set the Wii to straight-up autoboot whatever game is in the drive, or autoboot when you hold a button on the controller while the Wii starts.
Should it be an option on the Wii already? Sure. However, homebrew allows SO MUCH extra fun on the Wii that it seems silly to avoid it these days. All it takes is a couple of clicks and an SD card for Wii freedom.

I play Gamecube games on the Wii. The Wii component cables are 1/10 the price of the GCN cables.

True, but the Wii forces cube games to play in wide screen unless you bother to go and change the setting. This stretches 'Cube games out of their native resolution when you play in component.equalsign wrote:I play Gamecube games on the Wii. The Wii component cables are 1/10 the price of the GCN cables.
The Wii is a cheap way to get 'Cube games in component but it's not quite the same as the real deal.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Not on my set. I have my Wii set to widescreen (and on component cables) and none of my non-widescreen GC games get stretched out unless I set the TV to do so. There is an auto-stretch setting on my TV but I have it disabled.Flake wrote:True, but the Wii forces cube games to play in wide screen unless you bother to go and change the setting. Maybe your TV has it enabled?
