This is like debating whether the PS1 was better than the PS2. I'd jump on a Gamecube vs Xbox thread, though...

Gamecube is better because when you put a disc in and hit the power button, the game actually starts up right away instead of making fumble the wii remote around and hit that icon on the menu and then hit "Start".

So awkward to pop in a gamecube game and then have to fumble with the wii remote and then have to put it back to use your gamecube controller.

Wii needs an auto-start.

Gamecube is better because of all the alternate startup sounds. The Wii can't match that.

I actually use my GameCube as a dedicated Game Boy Player machine, and just play the GC games on my Wii. The latter has been tweaked to allow region-free gaming as well, so it works out nicely.

Well I could do the same but I don't have the number of GBAs and cables (only have one of each near me right now) so my Wii does everything instead.
Since the Wii launched, I've had so much fun with it. When motion control games are good, they're good and really fun. :) I played GC games on it via disc and then some VC games (NES~N64). Then I hacked it and played even more retro games. Then I hacked it some more and started USB loading. And even more hacking recently and I have GC games via USB loading too.
Having nearly the entire library of Nintendo console games and a ton of portable ones on one machine with all proper controllers, makes the Wii pretty damn awesome. :D

OHMYGOD YES

That shit is so fucking annoying I can't even stand it. At this point, I've got both Wii and Gamecube hooked up at the same time just so I can use the GC for GC games. The fact that it's chipped helps as well, and then I also don't have a lot of Wii games.

But the real reason I vastly prefer the GC over the Wii is pure nostalgia. It's the system everyone had when I was growing up, and I have fond memories of four player matches in Nightfire and Turok Evolution.

To be honest, I think there really aren't any other arguments you can make in this discussion since it is, as said before, a matter of apples and oranges. These two consoles never competed, and one is backwards compatible to play the other's games, so really, why are we even talking about this?

I use my GC for GC games for two reasons:

-Why wear out the Wii?
-Plugs into my multi cable. I don't have to mess with the back of my TV.

I use the GC for my GC games because I have everything hooked up and I want to play them on the original. Same reason I play PS2 games on my PS2 and PS1 games on my PS1 (I have a launch PS3).
