ps2 vs dreamcast
I believe that the playstation 2 and the sega dreamcast were the biggest console rivalry besides genesis and snes. Give me some thoughts on your opinions of the winning console.

Even though I love the Dreamcast it failed in the market. What one of the biggest console rivalry's besides the 4th gen era is Sony vs. Microsoft.

Re: ps2 vs dreamcast
There was no competition at all that I recall, the ps2 slaughtered the DC.
I enjoy the DC, but it just can't compare to the mammoth PS2, especially when it was also the cheapest way to play those cool new DVDs, and allowed you to still play your ps1 games with the same controller and same memory card.
Not to mention the imense 3rd party support, and huge library that does a great job covering all genres.

PS2 hands down.
Hardly a showdown. More like a complete beating.
I'd argue PS3/360 is more akin to the SNES/Genesis rivalry of the 90s.

Wow, that was amazing. I think that graceful opinion on the subject just ends all arguments.

Re: ps2 vs dreamcast
The Dreamcast is a great fun console, but PS2 absolutely murders the DC. It probably helps that the PS2 had over 10 years of solid support, and the Dreamcast well, hasn't, aside from a few stray indie shmups, has been dormant since 2002.
I think that the PS3 Vs. 360 debate is akin to the Genesis Vs. SNES, but much lamer version. Genesis and the SNES actually had real exclusives and a reason to have both, and while 360 and PS3 have their fair share, a lot of the games are the same. The thing I think makes me think that they are similar in that 360 has a ton of awesome cheap games akin to the Genesis does now, and many of the PS3 greats are a bit more money, akin to the SNES now.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
