I was expecting a console port sure. I was expecting one that would also work though.

The PC version blows chunks. Has framerate issues (and is locked at 30 no less), looks terrible, crashes and stutters. Should have just saved the $20 and bought it for PS3.

Did you try the mod that someone released that fixes all of that? I can't confirm anything, I don't have the game, but here's the mod: http://blog.metaclassofnil.com/?p=127RyaNtheSlayA wrote:The PC version blows chunks. It only fixes the resolution issues. Hardly makes it any better to be honest. Makes the game even more unstable with an even worse framerate issue.Stark wrote:Did you try the mod that someone released that fixes all of that? Ah, well that's unfortunate. Sounds like it's time to get a PS3!

What made you decide to get it for PC if you have a PS3?

The hope that I could play it at 60fps in 1080p with no framerate issues and extra content. I was hopeful for good keyboard and mouse controls as well, but it became apparent 5 minutes in that even if they did a good job tweaking the game for keyboard and mouse, it would still play better on a controller.brunoafh wrote:What made you decide to get it for PC if you have a PS3?
Plus the fact that I wish Namco/From would put more of their stuff on PC, and by buying their game on PC, they might be more inclined to do it in the future. Hopefully they do better if there is a next time. It's on the best sellers on both Steam and Gamers Gate though so it seems like it's doing okay.
Before I pull the trigger and buy the PS3 version, should I play Demons' Souls beforehand?

You should for sure get demon's souls but it's not at all required to be able to fully enjoy dark souls.
Does anyone have a preference of one of the games over the other? Someone asked me the other day which I liked better and honestly couldn't decide.

Well, the simplest way to put it is that there's no reason not to really. Playing through Demon's Souls first will more than likely give you a deeper appreciation for Dark Souls, and it's definitely a solid game in it's own right that many even prefer to Dark Souls.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Before I pull the trigger and buy the PS3 version, should I play Demons' Souls beforehand?
I can't really decide either. Both have their own merits and are some of the best we've gotten this gen. If I absolutely had to pick on the spot I'd say Demon's Souls, but that would be very subject to change and a decision mostly based on the fact that I'm so familiar with and love Demon's Souls.flex wood wrote:Does anyone have a preference of one of the games over the other? Objectively, I'd say Dark Souls is the stronger game, but Demon's Souls just has so much charm and all that. It's like trying to pick between King's Field 3 and Shadow Tower Abyss. No man should be put in the position to pick one over the other!

Finally got Dark Souls recently. Let my friend play for an hour. Watched him die almost a dozen times. Was pretty hilarious and awesome.
If I build a desktop I will probably buy the PC version. I hear that there is already a good patch out to get better visuals.

Too bad the game barely runs at an acceptable level and probably even has more problems than on console (crashing, etc). Just get it on console. The better visuals aren't worth it. Especially since the framerate issues got ported over, and it's locked at 30 anyway (WHY?).ZenErik wrote:Finally got Dark Souls recently. Let my friend play for an hour.
