Gamecube Vs Wii

Post by mlavindude »

It's a question that comes across my mind a lot, GameCube or Wii? I know that the Wii is next-gen and all that crap but the only difference I see is motion control. In the market and industry the Wii seems like it's aimed at little kids which irks me because it's the only 7th gen console I have. But with the GameCube there's a better selection of games not aimed at the young ones and quite frankly the controller is better than the Wii and my all-time favorite controller right in front of the Dreamcast one. I use them almost all the time on my Wii. So, what's your opinion? Whether it be nostalgia or love for your chosen console tell me why. I'll update this forum daily. KThanksBye :D

The only difference you see between the Wii and the Gamecube is the motion controls? Thats odd, I think their libraries vary quite a bit.

I think the Wii has better gmes hands down. If I didn't even take backwards compatibility, ease of hacking/homebrew scene, or emulation into account, I would still choose the Wii any day.

I mean sure there's the interface and the Mii system but it all doesn't seem that appealing to me. And in my opinion there's a huge difference in games between its competitors because at a store when I walk through Xbox 360 or a PS3 aisles I see dark and very grim looking covers but when I walk through the Wii's games it's full of colors and bright looking games which show's a difference in their audiences. Not saying you should judge games by there covers but just showing the inferences. Now with the GC on the other hand you have a good mix of bright and colorful and dark and grim.

I do not think the Gamecube has a GOOD mix of light-hearted and dark, grim games. In fact, there are very few dark games that are exclusive to the GC. Thats not to say there aren't any good ones, but not enough to say it balances out the light-colorful games.

The Wii has some nice, dark games as well, I don't know why people have this idea that all the games on the Wii are kids games. Metroid Prime is definitely not a happy, colorful game, and while stuff like No More Heroes and Mad World may have color to them, they are far from kids games. There are a good amount of light gun games that are fairly dark too.

Even just looking at first party stuff, the Wii is stronger hands down imo

Honestly, you aren't really adding anything to this thread. Who cares about the Mii interation, or how many dark games the Wii has incomparison to the 360 and ps3, especially if you aren't going to hold the GC to the same comparison, as its library is laughable compared to just the ps2, when looking at mature, dark games.

It seems like maybe you have never played the Wii, and are trying to get comparison suggestions, since you really like the GC? If so, the title is misleading, but the Wii is definietly a strong console, and well worth looking into.

The Gamecube compared to its competitors is weak just like how the Wii compared to his is. I'm saying that the kids games on the Gamecube weren't really noticed but the video gaming public but the ones that are on Wii garner attention which does not help the reputation of this console.

The Gamecube had a lot more experimental games and gadgets going on than the Wii. The Wii has one of my favorite libraries of all time but the 'Cube has a lot more personality.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

I think the Wii has a much better library, but the Gamecube is home to two of my favorite games of all time - Super Smash Brothers Melee and Animal Crossing. I can't say which I like better, but if someone was asking me for a recommendation I would tell them to go with the Wii every time (without factoring in backwards compatibility of course).

The Wii is better overall. Its market position seems to have generated a third party library that's chock full of stuff that was too niche to get an HD budget (and tons of crap too, of course). You just aren't likely to see more than glimpses of it at most retail stores.

Did you play the same Gamecube that I did? The GC was derided for being kiddy in its day same as the Wii is now.
