Scaling right now doesn't do a whole lot. It's a percentage of the base damage, except that the scaling amount is too low. The equation is something like X & Y% of the base damage, where X is your stat and Y is the scaling factor. Y is way too low right now. After the patch we'll be able to see what scales better into the end game. But I'd still concern yourself more with base damage than with scaling factor, as a higher base damage outweighs the scaling. 50% of 20 is the same as 100% of 10, that sort of thing.

Alright, that makes a lot of sense actually. I never bothered to learn how the scaling worked even back in Demon's. I just knew S > A > B > C > D.

Also, I'm trying to make the Lifehunt Scythe from Priscilla's soul, but for some reason after I upgraded the regular scythe (The one I plan on fusing with the soul) to +5 it suddenly disappeared from the menu of available weapons to upgrade at the blacksmith. I still have it in my inventory and everything, but it won't let me upgrade it anymore and it's not high enough to fuse with the soul.

EDIT: NEVERMIND. Turns out I'm fucked until next playthrough.

Huh? Once you get an item to +5 you have to go to Modify instead of Upgrade. That will let you go +6, then you can upgrade again. Then at +10 you Modify at the Giant Blacksmith to fuse with the boss soul.

Note, Lifehutn Scythe does 50 bleed damage on hit, when it overwhelms their bleed defence it does 50% of their max life (capped against bosses, but the vulnerable bosses still take a massive hit). It does 40 bleed damage to you on successful hit, and when that overwhelms your bleed defence it does 50% of your max life. This isn't as big of a downside as it sounds, though; heavy armor tends to have high bleed resistance, and you can use the bleed resist ring and the bleed resist shield to give yourself a big bar. On your stats screen the Bleed Resist is the number that the +40/hit needs to overcome.

Yeah I know about the modify menu, but various sources have told me that the Large Ember is the only thing that allows you to upgrade a weapon past +5 to +6 regular. And I gave the Large Ember to the first blacksmith, Andrei. Who I accidentally killed. :/

 Man you just can't catch a break.

In other news I want to get platinum so I started a mage character so I can get all the spells and man is it easy going through as a mage. The only thing I am having trouble with is deciding what weapon I want to use. I am kinda thinking I want to use a dagger because I don't plan on putting anything in endurance. Any suggestions?

Just an idea how easy it is, I beat havel before the minor taurus demon 8)

Havel is actually really easy to beat; just draw him into the open area above him and back stab over and over again.

How about the Dark Hand? That'd be pretty cool.

My main is a faith/int build sl 158.. I did all the trophies which actually wasn't that bad.. The patch really is a mixed bag for me.. NG+ 4 kings will be ridiculous with the Iron Flesh nerf and most people will probably have to summon others to help.. They also nerfed sorcery spells as well which made no sense because they were never really OP for pvp and the like, just for some boss fights.. The one great addition was the buffs to certain weapons like the Moonlight greatsword which S scales with int now if reinforced to +5..

I hung out at dark souls wiki to get some coop going and it was pretty fun.. I never thought I would play a game like this so much!!!

BTW I have a couple of friends whom actually duped to 300 SL LOL!! I think that's utterly ridiculous that From Software wasn't aware of the dragonhead glitch.. And there is nothing they can do because all people would have to do is delete the patch and glitch it offline then walla, a twinked character..

Praise the sun!

The PC dlc comes to consoles on October 26th. I am excited for it and waiting patiently. I have also been staying away from the various places on the internet that would spoil the new content for me.
