RIP Neil Armstrong

Re: RIP Neil Armstrong
I kinda had a clue this was coming but it's still weird to know he's gone.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?
Re: RIP Neil Armstrong
The quiet Hero. I always wondered why Neil Armstrong became so private while Buzz Aldrin remained public promoting Space Exploration. When you look at what Neil accomplished to make things work you can see how he is so great. The LLRV testing and setting down the lander with just moments to spare on fuel. The right Test Pilot for the very first Lunar Landing.

I was just looking at the Apollo 11 capsule in the Smithsonian last weekend. America has lost one of its heroes.

What a strange feeling, to know he's gone.
Here's a link to a scan of The Onion's article about the moon landing, entitled "HOLY SHIT, MAN WALKS ON @#$&ING MOON".
Warning for language, obviously.

He firmly believed that everyone on the program was as important as he was. So instead of trying to take the limelight, he retired and only came out to speak a few times. There is rumor that they chose him to be the first for that reason, knowing that he would retire shortly after and disappear.CRTGAMER wrote:I always wondered why Neil Armstrong became so private while Buzz Aldrin remained public promoting Space Exploration.
He was simply the ultimate explorer. And it sickens me that more people care about Sooki having a child, than he passing on - though it would probably be exactly what he wanted.
Re: RIP Neil Armstrong
That is interesting. Did NASA select him because of his reserved natural of not becoming Public afterwards? I thought it was because his cool attitude, the way he handled Gemini and the LLRV. I can also see NASA giving him the moon walk opportunity because he was going to retire and have contributed so much already.fastbilly1 wrote:He firmly believed that everyone on the program was as important as he was.
