A US Gold set for $125 is an extremely good deal. What's the story behind it?

If you do keep it, I'm sure one of us can come up with a list of affordable games for the under $100 range.

Ya I was thinking about keeping keeping this beautiful system
but at the same time It really is much more cost efficient to get the neo geo cd and I don't mind the extra loading times if it saves me thousands of dollars. I would love to keep it but I can't afford the high cost of an aes right now.

I think im gonna resell it cause i could use extra cash right now with moving and all and with the remainder i'll try to invest in a neo geo cd unit.

I really did not even notice anything and it's all good . Honestly the way I see it is this. I have always been a gamer and a collector and I have always resold stuff to. if I have doubles of a game or system or I cant' afford it why not share the wealth with other. After all retro gaming is anything but cheap and there's alot of people out there wanting specific things for many reason.

I remember seeing this post of a guy who had something crazy like 8 Panzer dragoon saga's!!! This actually upset me alot cause no one needs that many copies of the game period. All this guys doing is bringing the market value up and depriving others who may very much want this wonderful game the opportunity to play it. I would never horde that many. I would only keep 1 to play and maby one as a mint backup. back to the neo-geo

The thing is I can't really afford the games on neo geo much but im sure other's out there can so far be it for me deprive anyone else. I can buy it at a low price, Turn it over and make some extra cash and allow some other lucky fellow forum member to get the system at a good price which they may have been looking for. I fell like it's doing good actually

Also I have always felt game systems are meant to be played not stuck in a closet someone where so when I know one's is just sitting there it honestly feels good to purchase it and get it out to the world with someone who will play and apprieate it. So really it's a win win situation.

I'll be posting pics up this week when i pick it up and thank you all for your help and support. This system really is quite a sight to see in person. I was rather impressed with the system and graphics via what 1992. It's beautiful perfect arcade emulation what more can you say.

Well it's not 'emulation', but yeah.

To think that we didn't have arcade ports that matched what was on the Neo Geo until the days of the Dreamcast/Ps2 is just amazing to me.

Yeah, not emulation. That's 100% real hardware in that thing. It IS the arcade board. Also, not 1992... 1990.

FYI, those joysticks would cost you $50-100 probably to get a pair again. If you get a Neo Geo CD unit, you just get a control pad (or two if you are lucky). The joysticks are perfectly compatible with the CD unit. Just a though in case you want to keep the AES. Sure, you can get some money now for it... but you'll probably never get such a good deal on it again if you ever wanted another. I say keep it, even if you don't get a lot of games for it.

keep it, drop the $200ish for a MVS to AES adapter, and go from there. I thought I could take the loadtimes on the CDZ aswell. But, well watch this video and youll know one of the reasons why I bought an MVS after selling the CDZ:


The CD loading would be more acceptable if it took along time initially and a short time between fights, but the 20 seconds or so between fights gets really old really fast.

Story on the system is that a guy bought out a storage unit and found this pretty system left abandoned sitting in a plastic sealed container and this guy is just trying to liquadate it fast and even though he knows the value he does not like dealing with internet so is selling to me at a fair cost.

Absolutely lucky!!!

Not a bad idea on getting an AES>MVS converter cart. Then you can play *most* MVS carts on it and save a TON of money. The converter cart is expensive, but you'll save in the medium-long run. I mean.. Metal Slug 1 is what... a few grand on the AES, but the MVS cart is $50 or so (I don't remember exactly)? They look a bit ugly, but you can buy custom Shock Boxes for them at like $11 a pop I think with a custom label.
