I really prefer the graphics in the originals (because of the simplicity I guess). And is it just me or do the jumps feel more "floaty" in All-Stars? I don't know but there's something about it I don't like all that much.SamuraiMegas wrote:Which of the three versions do you think are the best of these games:

I personally prefer Super Mario Allstars for the snes. It improves the visuals a bit and you also get to use a snes pad which I prefer over the NES PAD. Your thoughts?

Jump physics are indeed different in all stars. I think all of the games in SMAS are built from the Super Mario World engine.harper wrote:I really prefer the graphics in the originals (because of the simplicity I guess). They are, which is why some fans of the originals prefer to play the games on the NES. That, and the musical style was changed to the SMW way as well, even if the tunes stayed the same.AppleQueso wrote:Jump physics are indeed different in all stars. lol, I'm so shallow that I like the original NES SMB games because I want to see Mario in red and green in the original, and I want to see fire Mario be completely orange in SMB 3.BoringSupreez wrote:They are, which is why some fans of the originals prefer to play the games on the NES. I can't decide which version of Resident Evil 4 I should get. Any suggestions?

Get it for Wii if you can, Gamecube otherwise.harper wrote:I can't decide which version of Resident Evil 4 I should get. Any suggestions?

The PS2 version has the worst graphics. Not that I really think that matters on a retro-gaming forum, but take that as you will.harper wrote:I can't decide which version of Resident Evil 4 I should get. Any suggestions?
The PS2 and the Gamecube both use the standard controller to aim, while the Wii lets you just aim at the screen with the wiimote to shoot. So the Wii version has more of a lightgun game feel. Personally, I rather liked that, but if you're more of a analog stick type of girl, than you might not.
The PS2 and Wii also both contain the extra Separate Ways story-line, while the Gamecube version does not.
I cannot speak for the HD rerelease.

Re: Which Version Is Best?
It's all a matter of opinion, but I'm partial to the GC version. It's the original version of the game. The PS2 version has poor graphics because the game wasn't meant to run on a PS2. It supposedly has fewer enemies than the GC version too. It's still a good port though all things considered and introduced the Seperate Ways campaign, which is worth playing for the Gunboat section and not much else. It also put the game in widescreen, which the original GC version didn't have. The Wii version has easier controls if you use the wiimote, but I think that takes something away from the game's originally intended challenge, since it wasn't designed to be a wiimote game.Michi wrote:The PS2 version has the worst graphics. I don't know much about the HD version. It's a bit sad to see so many RE 4 ports. The game was originally intended to be a GC exclusive, and was for a period of time. It should have been one of the few titles GC lovers could have taken pride in owning and playing, and was a showpiece for the system, but now RE 4 is on practically every console it seems.

Well crap, I didn't know all that about the PS2 version. Guess I need to pick-up the Gamecube version if I see it at a good price.Gamerforlife wrote:It's all a matter of opinion, but I'm partial to the GC version. It's the original version of the game. Actually that does sound appealing to me because I love light gun games.Michi wrote:The PS2 and the Gamecube both use the standard controller to aim, while the Wii lets you just aim at the screen with the wiimote to shoot. You still have the option of using a Gamecube controller on the Wii version, but if it has anything to do with difficulty I'd probably stick with the Wiimote (I actually suck at RE games and have to play on the easiest difficulty setting anyway). hahaGamerforlife wrote:The Wii version has easier controls if you use the wiimote, but I think that takes something away from the game's originally intended challenge, since it wasn't designed to be a wiimote game.
