Thanks Crt i think i had it hooked up all along after all. The thing is, I wasn't noticing it working, because unless i turned the volume all the way up on the receiver i didnt get any sound coming out of the speakers that was noticeable. The receiver and the speakers sound great when i am using the receiver inputs without using the tv at all. Could it be something to do with the psp i was using at the time of having this issue? I have the psp hooked to the tv and i have the audio coming out of the tv going into the dvd sound in on the receiver. Thanks for your help and the manual

When the TV is set to Variable audio out the amp volume control has to be kicked up. You could go to the TV Menu and choose Fixed which would give a "louder" signal to the Amp. The trade off is you TV Remote will not control the Amp volume.

Take a look at page 12 and 13, looks like you can control the amp by using the Control S Input.

This tvs audio menu is limited to all the choices you can do.. It appears I can't switch to fixed or variable unless I cut the speaker to the tv off first, because the variable/fixed menu is grayed out until then. As for the Control S Input it seems the tv has the connection but not the amp.. The Amps remote can control both devices volumes separately, but if the tv volume is lowered so is the amps but the amp also has an effect on overall volume unless the tvs volume is completely reduced. Maybe this is normal I have no idea.. Also part of the problem for low volume was because I had a loose jack to the receiver Thanks for all the help I have learned a lot.

I found out the old models had s-video, but when the newer came out they somehow removed it unknown reasons. s-video doesn't matter just curious. Its also weird that there is tilt correction mode, but not a image correction mode... slightly off from the left side. Its good enough for now.

The FS120 series does have s-video, but I guess not on the extremely small size sets. It's definitely on the 27 and higher models.

There is tilt correction directly in the user menu, but everything else will be in the service menu. You can correct everything except horizontal bowing and horizontal linearity.

I decided against getting the TV; I actually see quite a few Trinitons on my local Craigslist (another XBR - 32" went up for $75 just today) I have a decent enough Philips CRT with component and S-Video input, and I have yet to even get an entertainment stand to put it on yet so upgrading isn't really a priority.

It seems very easy to find a good Sony that comes with the official stand. These TVs also seem to be cared for more than the "loose" sets. You can even still find some that have the extended warranty!

Yeah, I did some research on the secret menu setting. It took a while before changing it. I corrected the screen size and saved it. I was very careful about this.

@ CRT: Whats with the TV/monitors you have links for in the first part of the first post? I noticed the Compaq FS7600 in there, and I happen to have one of those. Are those just monitors that you've used personally? Or are they all desirable for some reason?

The Hundai CRT Monitor came as a package with an older Desktop. As for the other VGA CRTs, not a preference just a good price. The Compaq FS7600 which I think is pretty common, was from a Thrift store. Also turned out to be a great monitor with all the screen controls that I needed as well as supporting all the video modes of Windows, DOS, OSX, OS9 and Dreamcast. The Dell was rescued sitting on a curb on Garbage day, since it is also a VGA CRT it supports all the older video modes as well. I did buy the Sony LCD VGA monitor new, the hook was the 4:3 screen, it supports Dreamcast VGA but not older 256 color OS9 games.

In the case of the Sony TVs both HD 4:3 CRTs were sought out, the WEGA is my favorite. My son bought the Vizio LCD, it was not a first choice but a good price point. A lucky purchase buying it back then with the SVideo connection which is now as rare as a HD CRT TV.

Sorry i didn't see what was the best crt TV in everyone's opinions but what i'm reading is maybe the Sony wega Trinitron tv maybe someone could give me a model number to look out for or what inputs it should have like s-video or VGA. I'm new to this whole maximize picture quality stuff I use to just do composite or s-video. Wish i still had my grandmothers old TV from 15 years ago it had a scart on it and was huge.

Hooking my dreamcast up to my led/lcd HDTV with VGA waiting on the VGA cord in mail.

my TV has no s-video so trying to figure out how to connect my Saturn to it without using composite. Ill go scart to component convert for the Saturn.

Can anyone suggest a good component splitter.

NO. This is my first Guide on Racketboy, continually updated with new information. You can go SVideo with the Saturn or get a RGB to Component converter.
