Another thing on the 4k resolution... unless the PS4 is a beastly machine, the games won't run in 4k. Movies at the most...

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
As far as TV not being HD yet, I really think this has to do with the size of the US and replacing equipment up to the HD standard. (I read a day ago that 1/3 of the US still doesn't have broadbandAppleQueso wrote:I'm sorry but the entire notion of a 4K format already just kinda pisses me off. A lot of TV hasn't even moved over to HD yet.
A lot of current 1080p HD film transfers are made from 4K masters, many of them at even lower resolutions than that. They'd have to do new transfers all over again to take advantage of 4K.
I mean, if this is something that'll probably remain exclusive to the enthusiast market or something, that's one thing, but I think the idea of pushing 4K as a new standard for average consumers is absolutely insane.
Like Elmagicochris said, big 1080p TVs have really become cheap now. At least in Japan, 42" are around $600 and 50" can be had for less than $1,000. Last time state-side a few months ago, I saw TVs at Costco were equally cheap for large sets. Europe probably has to pay a bit more because of all those extra taxes.
But I really do expect Sony to quasi-make the PS4 with 4k. Just kinda like they made the PS3 with 1080p. Perhaps it's capable of it but they go cheap on RAM or something else that keeps it from hitting 4k with ease.

After working at Walmart for a month now, I've come to the realization that Apple's job is probably the easiest and most boring in the world: overnight maintenance. You walk around slowly pushing a broom in front, then you come back later with a mop machine that's just as simple to use.

Preeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeetty much. I've got very little to complain about honestly.*BoringSupreez wrote:After working at Walmart for a month now, I've come to the realization that Apple's job is probably the easiest and most boring in the world: overnight maintenance. That machine breaks all the time though. I'm always fixing stuff on it since it takes the store way too long to get anyone to fix it themselves.
*: assuming the managers aren't being dumb, of course. Sometimes they flip out on us over some really silly things. They do that to stockers too, though.

I heard a good analogy for cell phone gaming: iOS is to gaming as made-for-TV/direct-to-video is to the film industry.

That analogy makes no sense to me at all.BoringSupreez wrote:I heard a good analogy for cell phone gaming: iOS is to gaming as made-for-TV/direct-to-video is to the film industry.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Sorry in advance for the necro quote, but I wanted to say something.
I'm sorry to hear that. Both my grandparents on my dad's side of the family died younger than they should have due to heart disease, so I know it's a sad thing to have to deal with. But on the bright side, you're young and your heart should be good for a couple more decades. By then medical science will be farther along and they might have better treatment for you than is currently available.brunoafh wrote:Just got the news that I have a heart disease that more or less guarantees my heart is going to fail eventually. Hate to make a downer post (even though that's primarily what I do), but yeah, feels bad man.

Sorry to hear Bruno. They give you a time table? What's the prognosis?
