Ahh, gotcha. I considered one (DDR) from the gameroom (Ken/Utah showroom). The price I could justify, the footprint was at the time workable, but the shipping just killed it.MrPopo wrote:Pump It Up. Came out the same time as DDR, but it's Korean and has the foot panels in the four corners and the center, instead of up, down, left, right like in DDR.

Smile: last night, i let someone cut in front of me during the long line of traffic at the pay toll of San Francisco Bay Bridge......he/she paid the toll for me! ($6.00)
Smile: later that night when i finished eating at a Chinese buffet with friends...the fortune cookie i got reads "small act of kindess, will be rewarded"....and i thought about the incidence on the bridge.

The place I purchased from is covering about half the shipping, and having a machine like this is one of the reasons I got a house in the first place.mjmjr25 wrote:Ahh, gotcha. Smile: Going to Chicago tomorrow as a last hurrah before school starts; that should be fun.
Pissed: After all these years, I was finally able to secure a reasonably-priced Panasonic Q. The only issue was that the disc drive wouldn't open. No big deal, I sent it off to a forum member here to get it fixed and modded. I just learned today that USPS positively MANGLED the package. Take a look at the wreckage:

That's FUCKED UP...
I always say blame the packer, not the mailman. But this...
The USPS should simply refund you your purchase. No buts...

Apartment searching with my friend went really well today. First one of seven felt like the best right off the bat... destiny? lol. Holy mother of hamburgers, so stoked to get out of here and start a new life.

Damn dude, that sucks. Was the packing adequate? Was the package insured? I ask this because if it wasn't, the post office will shrug and say "sorry, now go away".

Insured or not insured, that's no way to treat a package...Hobie-wan wrote:Was the package insured? I ask this because if it wasn't, the post office will shrug and say "sorry, now go away".

I wrapped it in three different sheets of bubble wrap and used packing foam to cushion the bottom and sides. Luckily, I did get it insured for its value, and I already sent an email to USPS about it.Hobie-wan wrote:@lisalover1

Even with insurance, it's tough to collect.
Insured - usps lost it, easy collection.
Insured - usps damaged it, a process is begins with the hope they can get you to jump through enough hoops that you will eventually give up.
I've shipped hundreds (maybe thousands) of packages the last few years.
Purchased insurance dozens (maybe hundreds) of times. Had 3 claims.
1st claim - usps:
Box arrived damaged to buyer. Item ruined. Cliffs notes version. Took 6 months to collect. Emails, phone calls, photos, receipts, etc. And YOU, the claimee have to constantly contact. They will tell you "we are waiting on this..." or "I have to let my supervisor know about that..." and that "we'll contact you when x is decided." They will not contact you. 6 months.
2nd claim - usps:
Item was shipped but never arrived. It stopped tracking mid-route. I made a claim after 2 weeks. They said to wait a few more days and they could look into it. After a month of doing this, my local PO said, ok, what you need to do is go to this office (in Duluth, 30 mins from my local PO) because that is the only branch that can process a claim. I went there (after trying for a few days to get a person with authority on the phone). After pestering the manager at that office he submitted an officially lost item claim and I was reimbursed for the items value, after providing the paypal receipt. I did not get reimbursed shipping costs...even though they admit I didn't get what I paid for. So, even though I won and was able to reimburse the buyer, I was out $19. Even this took over 2 months to get reimbursed.
3rd claim - UPS:
Ongoing. Presently in its 3rd month. I shipped an arcade monitor. Paid $171 to ship it. Insured for $300. They literally dropped it. It was in a wood crate I had built. They dropped it, wood split all over the place, they duct taped it together and wrote "HEAVY" and "FRAGILE" on it. Then delivered it. It was delivered a condition they would never possibly accept it for delivery in.
I have provided paypal invoices. They buyer has allowed UPS to come to his home to inspect everything. We have sent pictures to multiple people. I have a statement from the kid at pack and mail plus who stated the crate arrived in perfect condition with no broken wood or duct tape.
3 months in. I'm "waiting" for a claims adjuster to make a ruling.
Never think your safe with insurance.
If the item is less than $300 now, I don't insure. It is a false peace of mind.
