After months of careful consideration, I have decided my first Neo Geo Console should be a CD System. As much as I hate load times and love cartridges, there's just no way to copy them and spending more than 100$ on a system is already pushing my budget. To spend almost that much or more on games is ridiculous. The main draw to the Neo Geo CD is how easy it is to burn and play games. That is, if i can find a good iso.
So what I'm wondering is if, like the AES, the neo geo CD is region free. And if so, does it make a difference where the console comes from?
I remember in the cartridge systems, an American game played on a Japanese system would be in all Japanese, with more bounce and blood. Is this the same with the CD version? If so, I think ill get my system from Japan since though i can't read Japanese but i don't think anyone plas neo geo for the storylines anyways.
Is there anything else i should know about the CD system? Like, does it have built in save memory with battery changes to worry about?

I think it is but as all I have are JP games, I don't know for sure.
The thing I know for sure is that the standard controllers suck and so do the load times. They're worse than most early PS1 games. If you really wanna enjoy a Neo Geo, get a cart system. If you're adamant about copying to play the most games possible, then just use emulation with a TV-out video card and a joystick. That's way better.
