Ill keep checking ebay for good deals yesterday I got outbid in the last 10 seconds on a set of mortal kombat side art and marquee for $20... I will be patient.
you need to up your max bid.

if you bid 20 bid again for 22, unless someone bids for 23 you get it for 20.
Sorry I was unclear... I kept refreshing and with 16 seconds left I was outbid from 12.00 to 20.50, by the time I upped my bid the auction was over.

I know these are a bit expensive, but this is a place in Phoenix that reprints classic cabinet artwork. They look pretty awesome!

Check it out

FINISHED!

Post by SpaceBooger »

I have finally finished making my arcade cabinet.

Over the last couple of weeks I have won a coin door and some Mortal Kombat II side art off of ebay and installed them onto the cabinet.

Once I won the side art from ebay, I purchased a matching marquee for the top front of the cabinet. The marquee arrived Thursday and today it was installed along with a main power switch on the side.

The finished project with side art, marquee, and a coin door.

now that the cabinet is complete... new controls are next!

Have to say that looks very nice I am looking @ doing the same thing not to far down the line...
I dont know if you looked but X-arcade makes 1 hell of an arcade controller and they are a steal for 199 in my opinion.
What type of screen did you chose to use?

I am expecting my first child in about a month, so the plan was to get this complete before then using what I already had. I had 2 crappy PS2 arcade sticks so I just got a usb adapter. I agree that 199 is a great price for x-arcade, but with buying cribs and stuff its not a steal.

As for monitor, I had an old 19 inch full size monitor lying around and it works great - the plexiglass bezel makes it look great.

The problem with the X-Arcade is that they use crap components. I know it is an extreme case, but a friend of mine who has one broke his left joystick in half in the middle of a game. First controller he ever broke, kinda soured the entire thing to me. Now buying one to gut for its interface, now were talking.

If I was going to buy a prebuilt, I would buy another HotrodSE:

Its cheaper, uses quality parts, and is easy to switch components (quick disconnects on most of it, and with a flat head you can have the entire thing broken down in a matter of moments). Though I still think building them into the cab is the best idea, but if you need to hook up to a console, dont listen to anything I just said. Hacking console controllers can be difficult - PS2 especially.

That looks real nice. But if you ever go for a nicer set of sticks don't even think about x-arcade. You can buy all the sticks and buttons you want of much higher quality for under$50 and jut solder them onto a controller, works like a charm.

I can't agree more. X-Arcade sticks are terrible. A guy I know scored a couple for ultracheap from someone else and was able to replace all the sticks/buttons with official arcade parts, and now they work awesome.
