Cheers for the heads up, from what I've just seen on Youtube, they look like decent games.pierrot wrote: I had Tiny Toon Adventures: Buster's Hidden Treasure on the Genesis as a kid, and while it's also a pretty good game, the only reason I owned it was because a friend of mine had Buster Busts Loose on the SNES, which I loved playing at his house any chance I could get. (Too bad he always wanted to play Ken Griffy Jr....)
If you haven't played either of those games, I'd recommend them. Probably more Buster Busts Loose than the other, though.

Re: Games Beaten 2012
Well, I can't believe it, but I finally did it. I beat Donkey Kong Country 3 for the SNES. It was one of the first games I ever got, but I never actually was able to beat it. It took me a while to figure out K. Rool's pattern, but it was a triumph when I finally did beat him. What's more, I beat this game using my original cartridge on my original SNES using my original controller. It was very satisfying. Also, just for the heck of it, I beat Donkey Kong Land 3 today, as well (which is VASTLY easier, by the way!).

I used to own Mega Bomberman as a kid. It's pretty great aside from that piece of crap crab boss.ExedExes wrote:I hope to try Mega Bomberman out next.
I thought it was just a port of Bomberman '94, though, no?

Mega Bomberman is a port of B '94. However, Westone of Wonder Boy fame ported it, not Hudson. Factor 5 (Turrican) was in talks to initially handle it.pierrot wrote:I used to own Mega Bomberman as a kid. I'm interested in seeing what differences (if any) were made.

Adding this one too. After 15 years of eluding me, I finally did it. Had 1 life bar left and no more Energy Tanks. Plus, I got the shot off before Wily did. SWEET SWEET REDEMPTION, I kid you not. Now I unlocked Power Fighters 2 and just have to beat MM8.

dammit, what a good game. I'm glad I stuck with SNK. When I was younger I played some Fatal Fury (SNES) and Art of Fighting (Neo Geo cab at the convenience store down the street) but when I tried getting into KOF 98 for Together Retro last year I was a little let down. But I don't know. Maybe 98 was just the wrong game to start with. This game is fantastic. And impressive as usual for the DC. I mean, it looks pretty ridiculously arcade perfect to me. Awesome.
EDIT: BTW, it was a 2CC. My team was Athena, Mai and Terry with uh Kasumi as my striker.

so my sister's boyfriend wanted to spend some dude-time with me playing video games tonight. We played some fighters and then I suggested he try Deathmsiles with me as he was not familiar with shmups outside of R-Type. We played 360 Mode and kept it to Level 1 difficulty as he was not versed with the genre. But we played through it and I only used one continue (and I'd estimate he used maybe 4 or 5?) and it was a lot of fun. Still one of my favorite shmups of all time, and I finally had an excuse to see the end!

Thirteen Flights of Loving will not even take you 13 minutes to beat. I have beat the game a few times now, including with the developer commentary.
I wouldn't recommend you buy this game because it's so short, but you should definitely play it if you get the chance. I've often wondered why videogames don't use cuts and edits to shorten their duration. Instead, we have games like Mafia, that will actually make you wait in traffic while a bridge raises for a passing boat because "realism" or something.
This game makes lots of quick cuts while you are moving around, and while that is a tad bit disorienting, it gives the story some excellent pacing. This is a nice demonstration of what videogames should be doing more of in their story telling: utilizing cuts, establishing story through environment, building characters without dialogue. It's kind of brilliant, but too short to really make a difference. I also don't think it does anything too revolutionary, it just makes you wonder why nobody else has done it before.
