I haven't been able to stomach any of this awful fan fiction like writing, but I got off the bus at about issue four. You have to admit the first few issues were awful.

Seems like it has picked up though. Do issues 5-10 make up for 1-4? If so, I'm all in, and excited where the story goes.

Lately with Marvel, the ending of an Event has been poorly executed. CIVIL WAR ended with, well, it didn't. It was a gorgeous comic I'll read over and over, but there is no substance to it.

WWH ended like every Hulk event, and with all the build up the last entry looked God awful. It really does like a kid went over a Hulk comic with a squiggly pencil. It didn't ruin the superior PLANET HULK, but it was a let down.

Back to the topic on hand. Really hope Avengers vs. X-Men pans out for the best. Things haven't seemed the same since House Of M, and that was almost forever ago.

If you read it starting with #1, then that may be the problem. It would feel like jumping in the middle of the story. Like most comic book crossover events, they made things confusing. #1 isn't actually the beginning of the event. Avengers: X-Sanction 4-issue mini-series precedes it and really is the beginning.

And yeah, the last few issues in particular got pretty serious.

anyone here a fan of the original black and white teenage mutant ninja turtles? I'm really enjoying idw's reprints of the original series and there new reboot. the first couple of issues where okay but, #5 is where it really took off.
it's an xmas issue where it's revealed that they where all reincarnated humans from feudal japan and they also get their different colored head bands
the various one-shots have also been really cool.

You might enjoy the IDW mini TMNT series written by Brian Lynch that came out a couple of months ago. They are great reads.

Yeah the whole x-line has been floundering since Bendis got to break it with house of m and then leave other writers to clean up the mess.

I have been reading synopsis of each issue (i buy nearly everything in trades so no individual issues), and each issue sounds more infuriating than the last.

The only good thing to come out of this so far is that the sham marriage of storm and black panther is over.

I wonder why marvel can't just realize that house of m was a huge mistake, and just undo it already. If its not undone at the end of this series than i seriously don't know what the point of any of it was. They have had three or four huge crossovers leading up to this, so what are they waiting for.

Any guesses on the token death for this series, cause you know they have to have one.

I have high hopes that House of M can be reasonably salvaged. I liked the story, the aftermath, not so much.

One good writer (who doesn't use magic as an excuse) can turn everything around.

So Kirkman is killing off his characters again huh? Well surprise, surprise.

That's how I feel about it. The story of House of M itself, is a great alternate-reality story. But the aftermath did ruin some things.

that and the splinter micro one was my favorite of the idw micro-series so far. super excited for the April and fugitoid micros and Kevin Eastman's upcoming annual. my only major complaint about the ongoing tmnt is the slow pacing. between tmnt, ghostbusters, and, mars attacks idw basically became my favorite comic publisher.

I keep saying "mini" when I mean "micro". I'm not being sarcastic when I say thanks for correcting me.

Something else you might like; Lynch wrote a Ghostbusters comic that was supposed to be a pack in with the 360 and PS3 games (not sure about the Wii). He had to change a few things, but the comic is going to be released in October. The guy knows his characters, and he excels at writing Venkman. You can hear the character's voices while you read them.

This is more of a comic strip collection, but I have to say I've been loving some Calvin & Hobbes. So, so different reading Watterson's work as an adult. I'm paraphrasing but Calvin asks his Father "Why don't grown ups play?". The response is "Because if grown ups do an activity it is to judge their athleticism or to lose weight, or to reach a goal that doesn't make any money".

Calvin asks "So work is better than play?".

His Father responds "Being a Grown up is tough business"...or something close to that.

/rambling.

Good stuff.
