But try selling it to Sega? You'll be shot down pretty fast.
Geez, don't be so quick to destroy the guy's dreams...

Though, he'll have to come to grips with the reality eventually.

In all seriousness, it's a sound idea. You're best bet would be to pull together a small team of geeks/developers and do it yourself.

I seem to be confused by the term True Bit.. Do you want to hack roms into new games? If so you will have to learn alot, and judging from my own observations nobody will work with you unless you can do serious art or program yourself (this topic is pretty indicative of what I'm talking about). That's the harsh reality of fangame projects. I suggest heading over to www.sonicretro.org and regularly check Saxman's ProSonic engine topic. If enough 'outsiders' request a WYSIWYG editor from him he'll likely fulfill our request.

Edit - A Rapishare link in case you don't have a UG account.

Actually, it's a real game. Not necessarily for the Genesis.

And it would feature a team of various individuals on the net. There'd be a big group doing the coding, another doing the art, another doing the sound, etc.

And it would basically play exactly like S3&K, albeit with some changes (see original post).

And these fan-projects die because no one really cares enough.

En contraire, I think they care too much for anything to be accomplished. Do you want to pay coders? Are you already part of the Sonic community (or any other communities for that matter)? I don't want to discourage you, but I was involved one time with a skilled coder and a designer in making a shmup, and that was in real life. The result wasn't stellar, and on the net charisma has little to do with success. To attract people into a project you need to have proven yourself on 'the scene'. You could take a look here > http://s4.besonic.fm/index.php and check whether you can contribute something, far more realistic than starting your own venture. If you think you can get together a team for a new Sonic fangame then by all means do so, perhaps you're the one who can finally get it right! But I suggest sketching a few concept art samples and such beforehand.

I liked BOTH. I especially liked SA2 cuz of it's soundtrack (I just love "Live and Learn" and "Escape from the City").

The only reason I razz them so much is because of the fact that many of their flaws come from Sega not taking the time to perfect the experience. Instead, they just rushed them out the door. That and they don't play like REAL Sonic games.

A truebit sequel to any of Treasure's 16-bit titles would be awesome, and not entirely impossible now that they seem more open to the idea of sequels to older games (if we can get sequels to Gunstar Heroes, Guardian Heroes and soon Bangai-O!, why not Dynamite Headdy or Alien Soldier?).

A truebit Sonic, while not likely, would still be pretty awesome, I've gotta say.

Also, on a semi-related note, after seeing the Happy Video Game Nerd's most recent review, I'd like to see a new 2D sequel to Rocket Knight Adventure from Konami, though rather then a truebit game, I'd rather they'd go for just really well animated 2D sprites like the new Wario Land game. I mean, it wasn't a smash hit, but it's still well remembered and it's not like Konami can't afford to try something other then MGS and Castlevania, and they even referenced him in Contra Shattered Soldier. Rocket Knight Adventures III: Sparkster's Return!
I wanted to be a Teminator but they require you have an armored hyperalloy skeleton and mine's mostly recycled truck tires.

RKA was indeed one of the best Megadrive platformers, but they ruined it with its 'attitude' sequel! I've given up on Konami a long time ago tbh.

For those who have forgotten, this is for a truebit-style sequel to SONIC THE HEDGEHOG!!

I know, as well as any real gamer, that Treasure's games and Rocket Knight Adventures need sequels. But this isn't the place to talk about it.

Sorry about that, I actually meant to put that in the thread talking about Sega games you'd like to see a true-bit sequel to, and accidentally posted it here.

Either way, a true-bit Sonic could be potentially awesome, maybe if Mega Man 9 sells well, it could lead to more retro sequels.
