I have a hard time finishing most rpg's I play(level grinding bore's me to no end). Couldn't handle more than 4 hours of Lunar on the Sega CD before i was bored to tears. With that being said, I reaaaaally enjoyed both Skies and Grandia. Loved the battle sequences for Grandia. Especially the animated ones. Just don't see that enough of that anymore. Skies to me was better tho. Like someone said b4 the hand to hand was nothing to brag about but I kept playing just to get to the next ship battle lol.

IMHO get both

Pretty much what everyone else has said; if you want a good story, play Skies, and if you want a good battle system, play Grandia. I found the story in Grandia 2 to be really heavy-handed and preachy, but everything else about the game was just fine.

The story is unbelievably silly no matter the version though . :P
the PC version has that same kind of slowdown. though maybe it was due to the fact I was trying to run in compatibility mode on a Win7 x64 laptop...

also, the voice acting is top-notch. Image
