So I'm looking at this bundle: link

For those that don't want to click the link, it is the White Wi-Fi Vita with Assassin's Creed III for $250.

It seems like a decent deal considering the Wi-Fi Vita by itself costs $250.

I guess my question is what size memory stick would I need? Would a 4 gb stick be enough? I don't download retail games off of PSN so there's some memory saved and I rarely purchase PSOne classics or other download titles (and I can always delete a game and re-download later if I needed memory at the time).

Any thoughts or advice you guys would like to share?
I would get one that is bigger than that, I'm rocking a 4GB card and don't feel it is big enough to suit my game playing style. I tend to flit between several games at a time and if a good chunk of those are digital (some games are digital-only) then I can only have a few at a time. Since you say you don't download any retail games, you might be ok. You can buy one from me if I ever get around to buying a bigger card.

Does that bundle come with a stick? I could have sworn I read that somewhere (my Madden one does NOT).

Ah - looks like it did at one time but not now.
It was originally announced that it was going to come with a 4GB card (as was the Madden bundle) but a few weeks ago Sony removed the memory card from the product description of both bundles on their website here:
I got a 16 gig card but I do a lot of PSN stuff (focused on games that don't have physical releases though). I don't know if any of the retail games require large chunks like they do on the PS3.

I think several of the retail releases save the save games to the cart/chip, as well as updates to the game software.

I remember the bundle announced at E3 and it did include the memory stick but... yeah... :|

I guess they didn't want to lose any money.

Another question. Do you guys use a screen protector?

I don't use them on any electronics, including the Vita.

I use screen protectors on phones and portables simply because I prefer a matte screen. Not for protection.

I don't use a screen protector either and I haven't had any scratches. The Vita's screen is really strong.

As for the memory cards, I'm just waiting for the 16gb to drop or larger sizes to get announced.

Rambling post warning:

I got to test out a Vita for quite a while yesterday.

The console itself is lighter than it looks but it still feels like a sturdy piece of equipment.

The screen... gorgeous. No other word can describe it. It is the best screen on a handheld I've ever seen.

The face buttons are responsive and are more solid than the buttons on the PSP. The control sticks felt great and are definitely an improvement over the PSP's "nub". Like the PSP (and 3DS for that matter) you don't have a huge range of motion but it is a handheld after all.

I played a couple of matches of Mortal Kombat (which I did better than I thought I would considering I haven't played since MK 2 on Genesis) and I played the demo to Gravity Rush... or Gravity Daze... whatever the localized name is.

Mortal Kombat was fun. I'm definitely more of a Virtua Fighter fan though so I'll probably pass on MK. Gravity Daze, on the other hand, looks fantastic. The controls were a little clunky but I really dug the visuals.

That's about all my thoughts. I can't wait to get a Vita now. I'll probably wait for the white unit bundle that comes with Assassin's Creed III. Maybe the white surface will help hide fingerprints.

ok, its been a while since I last visited this thread, the good news is that plenty of solid games are showing up - I have already pre-ordered Persona 4 Golden before Atlus announced it will include a special Vita surface skin and 8 system wallpapers. Though I wish Altus could do a super-fan bundle -> soundtrack cd + Marie's bag to store the Vita (hey Asians have the goods, thou they pay more for it) + a Teddy/Kuma or Jack Frost figurine/plush toy.

The Vita, IMO, is the best dedicate gaming handheld system, much better than the 3DS - this is coming from a gamer that has a 3:2 ratio of DS games vs PSP games, and would recommend the DS over the PSP in most cases (price and game selection). Sorry Nintendo, give me a 2nd analog stick, not a bigger screen (with the same low-resolution!), and more original games please!

But unfortunately, Sony has done a bad job with the marketing of the Vita. At USD $250 for the wi-fi only version, you will need to spend more to get a memory card and some games, if you did NOT have dl any PSN games for PSP. I do think Sony will need to drop the price of the Vita to $200 this holiday, or at least include Sound Shapes or Blob from Outer Space or Super Stardust Delta + 8GB (not 4!) memory card for FREE. Seriously, Sony needs to move units, not wait for games to come and help Vita!

Amazon is kinda doing a deal like this right now.

You get the wi-fi Vita, Mortal Kombat (retail copy I think), and a 4 GB card for $250.

As I was typing this I checked amazon and the deal is now over. It was still there yesterday. I guess the promotion ended.
