So what have you guys been watching lately?

I mean, I look at all my favorite shows of all time prior to watching The Wire, and I still hold them in very high regard, but The Wire just has a unique quality to it that I've not seen in other shows and a very, very dense and layered story. It's a special show. Maybe I should check out Treme sometime.
Treme is pretty damn special too, but it isn't as good as The Wire. Still worth watching, though.

I watched the first two episodes of Homeland on Showtime on Demand. I'm actually surprised by how good it is. It's got great direction, pacing, cinematography, a story that keeps you guessing, and a great cast. Seeing Morena Baccarin topless certainly doesn't hurt either.

I really got sucked in and can't wait to watch episode 3. With Breaking Bad going off the air for a while after next week's episode, I think I'll be spending some time with Homeland

Also looking forward to the Doctor Who premiere this coming Saturday

I have that show all queued up and ready to start soon too, so we'll have to watch it "together". I've heard only good things.

It starts off great, then every season gets progressively worse.

Well, I always thought Season 2 had potential if the writer's strike didn't happen. I was really digging Hiro's storyline in particular, but then everything came to an abrupt ending.

I liked season 1
the ending of season 2
season 3 had some new ideas
season 4 looked like it was off too a good start

the writers strike hurt it

I like the show alot, but people didnt give it a chance, if something is great, and becomes good, why not just watch it.

might try alphas heard it was similar.

Awesome, I'll have to slow down a bit. I think I've gotten up to episode 5 before reading this post. I heard about the show on a Breaking Bad podcast where one of the hosts is constantly referencing The Wire and what an amazing show it is. He mentioned that he was interested in watching Homeland soon and I figured if that guy was curious about it, it's probably something I should check out too.

I really enjoyed Heroes up until the season 1 finale, which I felt completely squandered everything that the season had built up. It was so bad I stopped watching the show after that and a lot of the stuff I heard on various websites as the show continued its run made me feel that I made the right choice.

Watched the finale of Fresh Prince.

I welled up a little.

There is something in the body language of every actor (even that little shit Nicky) that screams "I don't want this to end, but I do.". It's very genuine and although I know every scene takes more than one take, but everyone seems worn out and sad. The story in retrospect seems very meta and does a great job showing that the characters in the show and in real life had to move on. What a better way to depict "moving on" than actually "moving"?

I don't think the finale is the bee's knees by any means, but I really enjoy it and thought it was very well thought out. It wasn't an avoir, it was a good bye for both fans and cast. The cameos weren't needed, but didn't seem out of place. Will and Carlton dancing together was perfect sitcom television and although they're smiling, you can tell they'll be missing each other after the curtain call. Really wish the original Vivian would have made an appearance as a potential house buyer, but apparently she has a few screws loose.

I'm babbling, but only because it's a pretty solid finale. Finale's are so difficult to pull off as you have a wide audience, and you are already pissing them off by ending the show. People to this day argue about the Sopranos finale, and the Bob Newhart finale negated the existence of several sitcoms. Some finales are what Charles Barkley would call "Turr-ah-bull". Every TGIF finale ended on a skid. The Full House finale is one of the worst I've ever watched only rivaled by Family Matters. Sure, some issues are side stepped in the FP finale, but overall it ended up being pretty great.

TLDR: The Fresh Prince finale is a wonderful tribute to its fans and cast. Huzzah!
