North East/NYC RB Meetup: Any Interest?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

Re: NE RB Meetup: dsheinem's house/Knoebels 8/18 B THERE OR

Post by Gunstar Green »

I just got home, had to split early because my girlfriend and I are going on a bus trip to the Smithsonian tomorrow and I've got to get some rest, sorry I didn't take a camera for you folks that weren't there. :P

It was just the four of us but we had some fun and it was great getting to meet people who share my enthusiasm for games. And I enjoyed having the rare opportunity to talk about super robots with brunoafh.

Hope we can all get together again sometime, with some more joining us.

Dude, I'm super pissed I couldn't make it. I'm thinking once everything gets settled down with the house buying situation, I'm gonna host one of these.

4? Guess a bunch of people had to bail out.

Glad to hear you guys had fun though. With Dave hosting this I expected a pretty big turn out, but not all goes as planned.

I had to bail. Spent 48 hours in a sweaty recording studio with no internet. This has been the absolute worst summer for video gaming ever. I've had barely any time to play anything.

 :(
Sorry guys.

I had a good time. Always fun to play and talk games with fellow retro gamers. dsh was a great host and his MAME cab is awesome. I'm not certain I'll be in New York around this time next year, but if so I'll be sure to drop by again.

It was a small crowd but a good time. Here's some pictures:

Playing Time Crisis 4 at the Knoebels' Arcade:

Playing the smallest arcade cab I've ever seen at Knoebels:

A really creepy clown head just behind the arcade:

RB members playing some SFXT while some of my family distracts them:

We also had a BBQ, a campfire (no actual camping), and at least a few drinks. The Alexes stayed up 'til 5am MAME-ing it up, long after I called it a day

As for what we played...brunoafh played a ton of stuff on the arcade cab (mostly looking for obscure things). I know we also played at least a little bit of:

Street Fighter X Tekken (PS3) (4 players at once mode = insanity)
The Last Blade 2 (DC)
Cannon Spike (DC)
Garou: Mark of the Wolves (DC)
Three Dirty Dwarves (SAT)
Castle Crashers (360)
Dust (360)
Doritos Crash Course (360)

There are plenty of games I am forgetting, too, but that's what jumps to mind.

I had a good time and sorry that more of you couldn't make it. Next summer if/when I host again (likely) we'll have to get the numbers back up so that more people can join in the fun. In the meantime, I look forward to going to another one somewhere in the NE. :D

It had been there all summer in my many trips to the park - but was MIA following what must have been a very recent rearranging of some of their machines.
