What's wrong with Cain's hair? It's not like Reeve's hair wasn't slicked back.
Yeah. I'm pretty sure Superman's hair has always been slicked in one form or another.
Um, iconic spit curl.

Just got back from Expendables 2.

Wasn't disappointed. Much better than the first. Anyone who loves/loved 80s action movies owes it to themselves to see this. The final scenes (and extra cast) make it all awesome.

I saw Looper mentioned earlier in the thread. Saw a trailer for that, the Red Dawn remake, and one coming out next year called The Last Stand. I'll be considering those in the future when they come out.

Hey, some of us grew up with the cartoons just as much as the comics and there was no spit curl there.

Image

And he isn't always portrayed with that curl in all the comic forms either.

Image

And as Popo pointed out, even when he does have the curl, there was a time when it was accompanied by a fantastic 90's mullet.

Image
Though, tis the mightiest mullet in all the land.

I'm sorry, but Dean's hair looked much better by comparison to that ^

(I would also like to point out that while Dean Cain's Superman did have slicked back hair, while he was in Clark form he did, in fact, don the curl.)

Well, that's an out-of-context Animated Superman, because he does have the iconic spit-curl in the animated series:

I also see that Superman is pulled back a bit in the artwork on that cover, to me it looks like the curl is there but not as pronounced.

But like I said to begin with, the hair isn't that big of a deal. I just hate that the series was basically a soap opera rather than a super-hero show.

"You've been coming back a lot, this time I'll be back", and "Yiipie Kai Yay!" sounded so terribly awful in the script, but hell if they didn't pull it off. And the driving while picking up gubs off the floor seemed so stupid, but again, they made it awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it.

On the topic of Superman, when I was 8-10, I demanded a Kal-El curl when getting my hair cut. "NO, it needs to be a perfect 'J'!!!!"

Everything Luke just said about Expendables 2 is 100% truth.

And it looks like The Last Stands will continue the tradition of people pretending that Arnold doesn't have a massive Austrian accent. "I'm Detective John Kimbell!"

I really want to see Expendables 2.... way behind on movies this year.

On the Superman debate... is it just me, or am I the only one that feels like he parts his hair and pulls the curl, then puts pomade in it? That's how I always figured it. Something to keep it from moving around when he flies.

...besides spelling "guns" as "gubs", but I love a funny typo.

Second Spoilers for Popo (and whoever else wants to read it)!
I have no idea how EXP2 made so many awful things work, and was better than the first EXP film. Well, I kind of do, but when you read the script it sounds like fan fiction (Villain? Really?). Fuck if everyone (Norris was a bit stiff, small complaint that was expected anyway) didn't give a wide eyed performance.

Van Damme surprised me at how good he was...I mean, he was almost believable. And since I'm spoiling, I don't think the big fight sequences were as good as in EXP, there were so many little moments that made up for it. And by "little" I'm not making fun of Jet Li, but he did some of his best work in minutes in this film that supersedes what's he's done in the past five years.

Mentioned ROTN earlier. The PANTY RAID EDITION is on sale at Best Buy for $5.

Laugh all you want, but I'm having a Nerd party tonight/early tomorrow morning. I have a dozen 3-D glasses with the lenses poked out so everyone fits in, the NERD movies, Nerd candies, and, well, you can see where the theme is going.

I throw parties like a 45 year old Mom, and couldn't care less as long as no one talks during the movies.

Well that's the image that stuck in my head - at least the product in his hair image. I forgot about the curl as I had Cain's hair image in my head. Even with the curl on Supes(Reeve), it still mainly looks kinda slicked but, maybe that's Clark mainly.

WRONGO

In that particular scene, he's wearing the Clark Kent hairdo.

Another shot from the same series:

(I watched all of Superman TAS not too long ago. It's still fresh in my mind.)
