Get Chris TF2 config. It will make your eyes bleed but it will run on everything.
Alternatively, switch to DX8. The game still looks amazing and it saves a lot of power.

I'm as stumped as you are, specially since the death (probably temporal) of the brothers is in direct contradiction of the themes of the game.
