I can describe it.
It's a newer movie. It's about a white man who is trying to sell a book and in the commercial the publisher turns him down and said to keep writing as a hobby. The guy finds a briefcase with a book that hasn't been published says its his and people love it
What was the last movie you've seen?

"GLADIATOR <snip> excellent. AMERICAN GANGSTER, ROBIN HOOD, PROMETHEUS, and BLACK HAWK DOWN are good to very good in my book."
In my book:
GLADIATOR: Awesome if you are between the ages of 12-17.
AMERICAN GANGSTER: More forgettable than watchable.
ROBIN HOOD: Have a Kleenex. I'll watch something that doesn't take two hours to get to an action scene that isn't meant as humorous or an actual part of the plot.
PROMETHEUS: Dumb. Dumb dumb dumb.
BLACK HAWK DOWN: This I like.
Couldn't argue squat against your other choices, as they are great movies some even defining a genre. Ridley wins hands down just for the those movies, but boy has he made some stinkers. I think Ridley's movies could easily be categorized in The Good, The Bad, and The Stupid.

Tony Scott, let me see, I guess you're right he makes a lot of watchable action movies: SPY GAME, MAN ON FIRE, CRIMSON TIDE, and TOP GUN. But he has also made some horrible movies, IMO, like DOMINO.
I think Scott is great...but he has a clear scale based on the movies I have seen:
---AMAZING OMG--
Alien
Blade Runner
--WOW THAT WAS AWESOME--
Thelma and Louise
Kingdom of Heaven
Black Hawk Down
American Gangster
Gladiator
--OK, NOT GREAT BUT WATCHABLE---
Robin Hood
Hannibal
Prometheus
Body of Lies
1492
----DEAR LORD WHAT WAS HE THINKING?!-----
GI Jane
A Good Year
Looking over these filmographies, I also realized I need to see a few more Ridley Scott films sometime soon (how have I not seen Legend or Matchstick Men?!)
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I've never seen LEGEND either (but have always wanted to) and I'm ashamed to say I've never seen THELMA AND LOUISE. MATCHSTICK MEN is very watchable, I'm not a huge Nick Cage fan, so I think that's saying something.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

Great flick. Not the best con movie out there, but still a great time. Also it stars the amazing actor Nick Cage... If you want a good run, watch Vampires Kiss or Deadfall with a group of people who like to make fun of movies. They are Nick Cage's best performances ever.dsheinem wrote:Matchstick Men
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
LEGEND is a clusterfuck of visuals and unicorns. It's a one and done in my book, and I doubt it's aged nearly as well as Tom Cruise.
Rating a Nic Cage performance is like rating a shit sandwich. Yes, he's hilariously awesomely bad in Con Air...wait. What was Nic Cage NOT been awesomely bad in?
I guess in LEAVING LAS VEGAS he had an okay performance, but he has one acting style: He talks softly with emotion (usually in a fake accent) AND THEN YELLS SOMETHING FOR DRAMATIC EFFECT!.

Without the help of his family, he'd be flipping burgers and would be on an Elvis collectible forum. Well, he is doing one of the two.
