Feedback on my Video Game Glass Engravings

Post by onemanfilmcrew »

Hey everyone, I got bored at the day job and started messing around with the laser engraver and came up with the idea to engrave classic game screenshots into glass. The Phantasy Star 2 one has a few minor issues, but I think the Zleda one came out pretty good. What does everyone think?

The Zelda one turned out great. I like the use of the Second Quest. I suspect you'll in general get better results with NES engravings; the level of detail in the PS2 shot means that stuff won't turn out as well.

Both of these were early tests. I got new software at the day job and wanted to mess around with it. I think if I go back and clean up the image a bit more the Ps2 one can come out better. The biggest problem I saw with it was the face on the Mother Brain.

Probably everything will need tweaking after turning it into a 1 bit image. They both look pretty good for tests, though the Zelda one is definitely nicer.

Yeah 8-bit would probably be best.
And the Zelda one is really nice. :D

Am I the only one who looked at these and thought if they were bigger that they would look truly kick-a$$ on a coffee table?

Even with the minor issues that Phantasy Star 2 one is really great. I'd love to see a Mega Man or Metroid one.

My laser engraver can do 12x24 so I thought about doing one with the entire mother brain level of metroid or level 1-1 of smb.

I'm thinking of doing some 5x7 and 8x10 and tossing them up on etsy or a similar site.

Any other game requests?
