samsonlonghair, I've made that comparison before. (Not sure whether or not I did in this thread, but I for sure did it in conversations with friends.)
Personally, it seems so goofy to me to go through all this to do something my cell phone can do, but attached to a TV... I think I could get a video out cable for my phone...

I'm an Ouya hater myself, but I do have to admit that one thing going for it is the fact that its games require controller support; most phone games are incompatible with them.Forlorn Drifter wrote:samsonlonghair, I've made that comparison before. I decided not to get this,
mostly because I have no TV that it could easily hook up to (and no soon plans to get one).
Otherwise, I was sorely tempted. I could really use a convenient youtube/media/indie-game player for TV use.

It is very believable that the OUYA will be made and drop at that price. Mostly because there are already several Android devices out like this. For example, the CuBox: http://www.solid-run.com/products/cubox/
Which made the rounds through the micro computing news world last year
Also Allwinner released the A10 last month:

While they have lesser processors, it is still very possible for the OUYA to drop at $109 and meet release date.
As for why I would wait for an OUYA over one of these, the OUYA has a bigger backing, so there will be more OUYA specific guides and pointers. It is the same reason I bought an Ipod back in the day. Itll be easier to make it do what I want it to do, since other people will have similar ideas - and with Shapeways we could have alot of fun with it.

I hope this project becomes a reality. I would probably pay $99 for a good emulator-box with a good HDMI (or whatever) out and a decent, versatile controller. To me, anything else is a bonus at that price.
Indie games developed for it is a nice idea but we'll see what materializes I guess...
I have not invested (still thinking it over) but remain cautiously optimistic.

Just an fyi, the kickstarter is over so the next wave of sales will be in March, 2013 after release.marlowe221 wrote:I hope this project becomes a reality. Actually, they're taking preorders (at $109) on their site.retrosportsgamer wrote: Just an fyi, the kickstarter is over so the next wave of sales will be in March, 2013 after release.

The controller is kinda ugly and doesn't look ergonomic at all, I hope that they make some changes to it. I wonder if they'll be a lot of fighting games made by indie developers?

OnLive just outed itself as a trashy company.. I wonder if it'll survive till this thing actually launches.

I hope not. OnLive has proven itself to be comprised of total assholes. I certainly won't be buying any games from their service anymore. It's a shame, too; OnLive could have been a boon to the Ouya during the dry launch season.Pulsar_t wrote:OnLive just outed itself as a trashy company..
