I don't mind commentary when I'm in the mood for it but it has to be listed as such. If your video says gameplay then that's all it should be.

when i want to search for a vid without commentary i just search "(insert game name) gameplay" or "(insert game name) longplay" i much prefer lets plays though as they often give very good tips and hints. Nintendocaprisun is probably my favorite lets player.

Eh, I haven't been enjoying his new stuff at all ever since he started doing his old school style again with some random annoying people. I wish it was just him, or the original guy he teamed up with from his earliest videos... since they were actually funny and entertaining together.8bit wrote:The only youtube channel reviewer I don't ever get tired of is Mark from Classic Game Room. His tried and true formula is the absolute best! I never get tired of his reviews. I will admit CGR Undertow is very hit or miss though.
I kind of agree with you guys, but I generally look up games a lot nowadays for gameplay and have almost never had an issue finding videos with no commentary. Maybe it's just me or the games I've looked up, but yeah no issues so far.
As for LP's, I tend to think HCBailey is by far the best. Lately I've been thinking instead of actually playing FFIV The After Years, I'll just watch his LP instead.

It has a lot to do with that YouTube has a higher tendency to pull videos of just gameplay due to copyright infringement. That is besides the Popularity thing of course...

Mute is your friend.
(FC, AVFC, NES, SFC x2, SNES, N64, GC x2, Wii x2)*(G&W x7, GB, GBpocket, GBASP, DS-L x2)
(GEN, SS x3, DC x3)*(PCE-Duo)*(Xbox:500GB)*(NGCDZ, NGPC)*(PS1, PStwo, PS3:160GB, PSP.3K)

It is frustrating how prevalent it can be.
My solution has already been mentioned. "Longplay" and "playthrough" usually yield more results without the babbling.
That said, I do enjoy some commentary, but its a very clear case of some people have it, most people don't.
As D.D.D. said, if all else fails, mute the sumbitch.

Thanks for the search tips, guys. I can't remember what it was, but I was looking for gameplay sans commentary for something on YouTube recently, and I could not find once single video that fit the bill. I was going crazy!
Some people are fantastic narrators -- and my definition of "fantastic" is very flexible. You don't have to be the funniest guy on the planet for me to enjoy your commentary. But I do agree with Gamerforlife and wish I didn't have to dig so deep to find undubbed footage.

When i decided to do my Youtube channel on Dreamcast, I made it a strong focus from the start to providing video game footage without any background dialogue. This includes pesky commentary and introductions. There is SO much of it on youtube, I figured i'd go the opposite route as i personally missed checking out pure gameplay footage without some dude giving his 2 cents on it! I'm glad I ain't the only one who feels that way.
