Zelda four swords adventure?

Post by jay_red »

Hey guys, I am interested in giving the four swords games a try and wondered what everyone thought of them? I just realized that you can no longer get the download from the e-shop for the 3ds, so I am looking into either the GBA or the GC ones.

If I were to try it out on the GBA I would just need to get a cable and another copy of the game (would be going t player with my Fiance) If I went with the GC version I would need to get the game and the link cables for the GBA's. I feel that this is one of those games that could be so awesome if the conditions are right, similar to the 10 player bomberman I have heard about on the saturn.

I'd argue Four Swords Adventures (which is the sequel on GC) is much better.

The game is awesome. I adore it. It's even fun by yourself, but with three other people with you, it's just a blast. It's old fashioned style Zelda but with people. It's pretty great, even if a bit short.

Considering you can get link cables for stupid cheap now, it's definitely something you'd want to look into picking up.

The original one requires a copy per player. The Gamecube one requires a GBA or cube with GBA Player per player. Having beaten both, the Gamecube one is one that I continue to go back to.

And yes, it is like 10 player Bomberman:

the gamecube one's a lot better but don't expect to really play multiplayer; unless you have 2 or 3 gba's chilling lol

Four Swords cannot compare to Adventure. Even single player, Adventure is the way to go.

Fun fact: I first came across Racketboy because of THIS article.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Four Swords adventures is SO much fun! Its one of my favorite zelda games. I've never played it in multiplayer but I had a ton of fun playing the single player mode. highly recommend getting it!

Aw man. You have to try it in multiplayer mode, singleplayer mode doesn't even compare.

I finally had a chance to play Adventure this summer. The game was a minor let down when it came time to play with it solo. It's a multiplayer game that accommodates single player technically but not in spirit. Essentially, numerous puzzles involve interacting with the environment in separate locations for a common outcome and if playing by yourself it becomes tedious to get all the Links in place. Many of the puzzles ARE clever, though. The 2D sections are cute. The graphics look good... zoomed out. Playing on a good TV with component cables, most of the art holds up well today. Unfortunately the default view "zooms in" well beyond a 1-to-1 pixel size leaving you with blocky sprites floating over backgrounds. Just stay zoomed-out, darn you. I really like the score and single-special-item ideas in the game, though they make more sense for multiple players ("I'll take the wand, you take the boomerang"). I'd give the single player experience a 7 (average).

I am working on getting GBA-GC cables right now so I can play adventures, I still want to try out 4 swords (GBA) for the hell of it.
