Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - how is it going?
Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - how is it going?
So Sly Cooper is really quite good so far and this HD remake is astoundingly beautiful. I may have found my footing for the challenge again...

Tomb Raider frustrates me to no end. You guys really weren't kidding when you said it hadn't aged well. At least I'm finally halfway done with it... :/

Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - how is it going?
Got started with Metroid Prime 3 last night. I've only played a small amount so far, but it seems enjoyable enough. The new controls are gonna take some getting used to - I'm not used to having to actually aim in Prime games (I keep narrowly missing the enemy I'm shooting) and the layout of some controls is disconcerting (particularly the morph ball, which I always forget the button for, and the scan visor, which is set to the minus button and then highlighting it with the on screen cursor). Considering how often the scan visor is used, I wish they'd come up with a more elegant solution for it.
In the hour or so I've played, there sure are a lot of people. I'm not used to Metroid having all these people talking to me, and it seems to take away from the atmosphere a bit. The graphics seem remarkably dated too, which is odd because I found them to be impressive in the original 2 games. I think Samus' new less detailed zero suit model + all the people wandering around is letting the game down a bit. Samus model looks fine, but a little cartoony compared to the rest of the game (even her reflection in the visor seems a little too cartoony) and the humans she encounters have pretty terrible facial design and animation. I'm hoping it means that we won't see too much of them, and that's why they're not voerly detailed.
Either way, it seems like more of the same, and I think I may be one of the few people to say that I'm not sure whether I think that's a good thing. I liked the first 2 games, but I'm not sure I wanna play through another game in the same style. The Prime series has always been enjoyable enough for me, but I never liked it as much as the 2D games.

All right. Now that the Olympics are over, I picked Final Fantasy IV Advanced back up and, well...
I guess now I can head back from the moon. I don't think there was anything else for me to do up here.

So I got some more Hi-Potions and Ethers before heading back to the planet in FF IV...

Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - how is it going?
UGH! I think I just lost my save for Tomb Raider. Right after getting to the last level.
When I go to load the game it just waits a second and goes back to the little book thing. Nothing loads. I hate everything. I found a code that will supposedly make me skip a level. I guess I could do this 14 times to get back to where I was...
But has anyone else had this happen to them? Is there anything I could try to get it back? I checked the for the file in the browser and its there. O yeah....and I'm using a 3rd party PS1 memory card and playing on a PS2.... Probably the problem... UGH. I hate this game.

Re: Snickerd00dle's Summer Challenge 2012 - how is it going?
Sorry about my rage post last night. Like I've said, Tomb Raider has been really frustrating for me. I finally beat it though! Whoooo!
1. Fatal Frame-PS2 (Got the thing I needed, don't want to find out what to do with it..)
2. Ico-PS2 (Beaten)
3. Resident Evil-GCN (haven't started)
4. Mario Kart Wii-Wii (Beaten)
5. Tomb Raider-PS (beaten)
6. Super Smash Bros. Brawl-Wii (beat Subspace Emissary, still need a few characters)
7. Metroid Prime-GCN (haven't started)
8. Indigo Prophecy-PS2 (up next?)
9. Fallout-PC (Level 4, haven't really felt like going back to this one)
10. Kingdom Hearts-PS2 (Beaten)
Tomb Raider. What can I even say? I really wanted to like this game, and I really did in the beginning. Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine clearly borrowed so many elements from this game that it felt like playing another Indiana Jones game! ...but I played Infernal Machine on the PC... Whereas on the Playstation I was tortured by a checkpoint save system and a gamepad that wouldn't even let me use the analog sticks. I couldn't strafe and I just felt like I couldn't move at all. So it is true. This game has aged terribly. Playing the game was like being tortured but every 20 minutes noticing that the person decorating the room has decorated really well. There were so many cool ideas and puzzles in this game, but ultimately the horrible controls kinda made me hate it. I don't know if I'll be playing the other ones on the Playstation.
I don't know if I'll finish any other games by Labor Day. I suppose I could finish Brawl if I just gave it a good shot. I kinda wanna try to squeeze Indigo Prophecy in there though. But I still have a lot of other stuff I've been wanting to play. So we'll see!

Kingdom hearts started pissing me off. I beat Alice in wonderland but I can't go to any other worlds.
Sky cooper is hard too.
