Converting Fighting Sticks

Post by HeavyMetalMe »

I see a lot of these PS and X-Box fighting sticks around, and I'm wondering if it's possible to crack them open, and rewire them for a Dreamcast? Kind of like how I saw a Dreamcast controller with a NES controller coming out of it for Nester...

It's not that easy. You'd have to do something about the encoder chip. I guess, and this is from someone with little to no tech no-how, you'd have to find a way to bypass the on-board encoder chip to use an encoder chip from a DC controller.

I'd recommend either:

A ) Buying an arcade stick
B ) Building one (it's pricey to do so, but worth it from what I hear)

I would check the forums over at GameSX. There's a ton of information on hardware mods, and plenty of experienced people that will be glad to answer your questions.

I would get an Agetec stick. They're considered one of the best sticks besides those that use real arcade parts. They can also be modded with Sanwa buttons, etc.
