1) Mercedes E class
2) Mercedes C class
3) Lexus IS

I am looking for a reliable(does not break or needs repair often) and a smooth driving car.

What I want to know is if any of these models are going to be cancel and a whole "all-new" models are coming out soon?(1 year later?)

The current "C" class models have been out for 5 years, are still selling well, but are due for a new body style in the next 2 years.

The current "E" class models have been around for 3 years. These won't change for at least 2 years.

Not sure on the Lexus.

I'd go "E" class if you can afford it. Definitely smoothest ride. What models are you looking at? I always think it's a little weird when I see 20 and 30 year olds driving 60 - 150 thousand dollar retirement vehicles. HAHAHA.

*** EDIT - I gotta say though - I'm gonna go out on a limb here and suggest that you might be asking the wrong crowd. Would you ask for gaming advise on a Mercedes forum?

Also - very jealous. You'll have a better ride then me!

If you want reliability, get the Lexus. I like German cars best but not the maintenance that follows.
Also, an E versus a C, that's a pretty big difference. It's like you have two medium-class cars and a really expensive one. Not really a fair shot. If you have the money, why not get the E. If money is of any concern along with maintenance, get the IS.
Then again I haven't really liked Benz that much since the 60s so my opinion of them isn't gonna be good anyways. (Get a Porsche, Audi or BMW. ;) )

THIS. How much for the regular maintenance and replacement parts later on. Higher end cars tend to get expensive, my brother in law hates his beamer finally got rid of it because of the inflated maintenance costs.

I'd also chime in that when purchasing a Lexus, you're paying a lot extra for only a logo.

True but even in Japan where "Lexus" didn't exist (until a few years ago) because people here associated the Altezza (IS) & Aristo (GS ) as the high end Toyotas and still paid the high price.
Still though, there is a reason why the IS has been taking a huge chuck of BMW's US sales from their 3-series; no/low maintenance and still damn nice performance.

If you don't have a lot of money don't buy them.

My last car..I won't say what class Benz it was;). The oil change/filter/tune ups. Was $1000 a pop.

And when parts break ( which they will) it's expensive.

That is the problem...

I hate expensive after sale costs. But this is the case with all the luxury(non-economic cars) .
Thats why I am going with the Merc. Its supposedly more reliable than BMW, AUDI.

Lexus is the better choice to be honest, reliable + smooth. The reason I dont want a lexus is , our family got about 6 cars (including a smaller pick-up) all are Toyota or Lexus. Need some change. Also, unlike the USA which I heard lexus prices are unheard of(I believe due to taxes?) Lexus are very common. I think up until a couple of years ago they were cheaper than the BMWs or Mercedes but I can be wrong. We dont have taxes.

My eyes are on the E 350 coupe

@D.D.D.

I hate BMW and Audi because they break too often and have expensive fixing after sale prices. When you buy one of the cars they should put on the prices tag "$XXX*2 for after sale tuning repair"

I am not so sure about the porsche but I think its fits the description. Plus the Porcsche has only one car model that fits my wants which is the Panamera , which has an entry price here of around $100k while the E class should be around $66-70k. So the porsche is out of my price kind of....

@Chupon

thanks for the valued information . Still wondering about the IS model though. I guess I am too scared to be the C class now. Although the latest models, as in all products, make the most reliable products as all issues have been fixed and improved upon.

I tried asking on reedit/r/autos , no one replied to me :p

I think I'd look for advice somewhere other than a message board full of random people when it comes to a car purchase. That's pretty big decision.
