RedRaider's Classic Console Collection

Post by RedRaider »

A few months ago I decided I wanted to buy one of the consoles I always wanted as a kid, the ColecoVision. Through Google searches I came across a website called AtariAge and stumbled upon the YurkiVision. A completely refurbished / Composite Video Modded ColecoVision. Here is what the work performed by Yurkie entails:

Console:
  • Power Switch rebuilt
  • Cartridge Slot thoroughly cleaned with DeoxIT
  • Any bad/faulty solder joints re-soldered
  • Single jack A/V composite mod
Controllers:
  • Housings and cords cleaned
  • Joystick directional controllers refurbished
  • fire button dissembled and refurbished
  • Keypad and keypad socket cleaned
Options included:
  • replacement ball knobs on joysticks
  • cords straightened
  • socketed intro skip BIOS
  • pause button mod

I also had Yurkie add the Socketed Intro skip BIOS. Pressing the fire button on the controller skips the title screen and goes to the game select screen on Coleco released games with the annoying 12 second title screen. I can press the fire button any time to skip to game select screen or wait for the title screen to come up.

Yurkie also added the Pause Button Mod, which pauses and mutes sound on all games. It does not have any effect when using Expansion Module #1 (Atari Module) This is because the Atari module is basically an Atari 2600 console that uses the ColecoVision for power and A/V connection. $35

The units were pretty damn clean when I received them, but I've spent many hours fine detailing these babies. These puppies are about as clean as you can get a +30 year old Colecovision or it's accessories. (no Armour-All used either)

If anyone would like to purchase the awesomeness that is the YurkiVision, just click on the link below:

Enjoy...

RedRaider's Intellivision 2609A

Post by RedRaider »

I thought it was time to clean-up my first cartridge based console, the Immortal Intellivision 2609A. I got this unit on Christmas day in 1980.

This particular console saw lots of game time, as all my friends had Atari 2600's but wanted to play the Intellivision. It made lots of trips to friends houses for sleepovers, hence it still has some battle scars.

Enjoy the pics of a single owner Intellivision 2609A:

RedRaider's Fairchild Channel F System II

Post by RedRaider »

I am slowly but surely photographically cataloging my very humble collection of Classic Consoles. Up next is my 100% functional 1979 Fairchild Channel F System II.

I purchased this earlier this year and feel I got a heck of a deal. It came CIB (box isn't all buggered up) and was actually pretty clean, then after I gave it the RedRaider treatment, it looks brand spanking new!

I have four CIB games that also were included in the package.

Enjoy...

RedRaider's Atari 5200 - My First Atari Console

Post by RedRaider »

I picked this console up from a AtariAge member, for what I feel was a great price. I must say this particular Atari 5200 is in unbelievably good condition. The aluminum cosmetic panel is free of scratches, which truly amazes me. There are a few very minor scuffs on the lower panel, but they are not noticeable, unless closely inspected. As always, this console received a good RedRaider Detailing, though it hardly needed it.

The box is also a true gem IMHO. Very good condition, considering the age of this console.

Supplied with this Atari 5200 were two Gold-PCB Refurbished controllers. They even have the plastic covering still on the aluminum cosmetic plates. They both operate perfectly and are in pristine condition.

This is my first Atari console to own and sadly I'm not that impressed with it. To me something just doesn't feel right about it, which could be the controllers, the absolute worst I have ever used. I only have a few games for it so far, after I pick up a AtariMax cartridge, hopefully I can find some games that I'll enjoy playing. I do like the design and size of this console, it is sleek and massive.

I have also decided to have the S-Video Mod installed, I will update this thread when it is completed.

As always, enjoy...

Thanks.

Lots of elbow grease was involved.
