Great possibility of a shenmue 3?
Re: Great possibility of a shenmue 3?
OK, let's get this out of the way. You are being WAY too defensive. It is one thing to like a company. It is another to be so reactive, so calm down. On the other hand, it does indeed look like Sega corporate is doing OK. That said, even if Sega Europe isn't closing, it certainly isn't doing well. The US and Euro markets are not being profitable for Sega. That means that down the line they are going to have to either turn things around are start to strip products, services, or assets.
Shenmue 3 is NOT part of a healthy recovery for the US and EU divisions of Sega, and the Asian market is not large enough to solely support the dev costs for a title like Shenmue.

I'll try to find the links

"Interweb rumours about Sega losses are false. While we had losses in certain markets Sega as a whole overall had actually big profits and are looking forward to growing bigger.
We also have no intentions of closing are western offices."

Geez you're gullible.
Unless you get VERY reliable sources that are NOT from Sega, don't believe it. Sega is lying out of their teeth, just like every other Japanese company (and heck, any worldwide company, but especially Japanese) would do in their situation, in an attempt to squash any fears about the reality of their situation so that their shareholders don't start selling en mass.
Want to really know how Sega-Sammy is doing, Dreamcast4ever? Look up their shares over the past few years or longer term on the TSE. They are loosing big time and doing anything they can (massive restructuring, which means lots of consolidating) in order to not shrink further. By the way, video games are a small portion of what Sega does. The majority of Sega's profit comes from gambling machines (pachinko slot machines).
Another fun fact. Sonic isn't Sega's lead money maker at all. Their license on Fist of the North Star is.... by FAR.
What does this mean for Shenmue III? It ain't gonna happen unless Sega sells the rights for Shenmue to someone else. This is just more of Suzuki Yu rambling on. It's just like the boy who cried wolf... I've heard this many times before.

You have more faith in Sega than most have in God.

Re: Great possibility of a shenmue 3?
honestly this topic was meant to be exciting and a bug hopeing maby. Most of all it's intended to be hopeful cause when it come's down to it none of us including me know what sega will or will not do.
I say why not be optimistic. I love the shenmue series and all I can do is hope for another game and All im saying is sega as of lately has been really giveing to there fans with so much so I see a bright future and possibilities.
Alos everything i say is an opinion for the most part but I try to stay more positive then critical. It's just how my personalty is.
I think alot of peeps are taking me to serious but it's ok cause I really enjoy everyone here
