Re: Just hacked my PSP
Bumping this thread with an anecdote:
on my previous PSP, i had installed the NGPC emulator- i think it was RacePSP but my memory doesn't serve too well.
Anyway, SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium ran amazingly, and i preferred it to playing on my actual NGCP, because i could actually see what was happening on the screen.
Fast-forward to present, and i'm enjoying R-type Delta for the first time (by the time it had come out, back in the day, i had moved on from PSX).
BTW- can anyone recommend some decent utilities? I wanted to get PSP PDA, but it seems not to run on CFW 6.60 PRO-C.

Re: Just hacked my PSP
Man, that's a huge dilemma for me. I love NGPC games, and a huge part of playing them is using the amazing mini-arcade stick it has. But of course the downside, like you pointed out, is holy shit, can't see a damn thing. I'd kill for a proper backlit NGPC, but I think the best you can get is a custom frontlit one, but I'm too spoiled by backlights to go back to frontlighting.dust_hound wrote: Anyway, SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Millennium ran amazingly, and i preferred it to playing on my actual NGCP, because i could actually see what was happening on the screen.
Ah the frustrations of a retro gamer!

Re: Just hacked my PSP
True, it's a great thing to be able to take a bunch of games on the go with me. I dallied with iOS gaming for about 18 months, and whilst it's grown to be pretty cool, with more big-names jumping on-board, i still dislike playing using the touchscreen. Therefore, it's PSP all the way for me at the moment.
@Lokkenjawnz: Did you try one of those worm-light things? Last time i used one, it seemed so shit as all it did was shine one bright spot onto the screen, but i then read about how you can sand it, so that the LED gives more even lighting. Not perfect, but worth a try. Also, to make the PSP's pad slightly more palatable, how about one of those circular adaptors that stick on using adhesive pads?

its true i cant believe how smooth it runs, too bad the psp d-pad is a sin against humanity for fighters, my thumb hurts thinking about it.scarper wrote:skate323k137 wrote:the CPS2 emulator is awesome. I'd argue the Wii is a better console for hacking and emulating. The wireless pro classic controller is much more comfortable than then PSP system and the emulation performs better in general.lisalover1 wrote:The PSP is still the most versatile gaming device on the planet thanks to its massive selection of homebrew and emulators (as well as still having physical controls). The system is pretty much cracked wider open than any other major console in history, and now you can pretty much do whatever you want with the little thing.Seriously, everyone who owns a PSP should get it hacked; getting mine hacked was one of the smartest gaming-related decisions I have ever made.

I agree but I'm waiting for the Xbox vs Wii emulator war incoming.8bit wrote:I'd argue the Wii is a better console for hacking and emulating. Re: Just hacked my PSP
njemu is PSP's emulator-scene-god, no doubt. The emus he's created are nothing short of perfect. I created some nifty custom BG's for his emus but it's just a matter of re-uploading them.scarper wrote:skate323k137 wrote:the CPS2 emulator is awesome.
