Let the fans translate and slave, maybe even do the voiceovers, (proffesional or amauteur) and they only need to do the bit of code related to region protection, burn the games, make some boxes, and send them out.

I honestly can't help but see that being a pretty good profit margin. Hell, they could even make the games as they are ordered. I just want more Japanese games to come to the rest of the world.

Still waiting on Pandora's Tower, damn it!
I think the costs that are deterring video game companies from translating Japanese games that don't make it over here are due to publishing and the fear of poor sales (not a baseless fear, either). The translating fees are a small part of the total costs of putting out a game.

Alright, how about a Kickstarter like system run by the company themselves to bring it over. The fans pay for the publishing fees and guarantee a buy of the game. Say, for a $100 you get a copy of the game and something a bit extra, like a soundtrack. I could see it working quite well for games that have a larger audience, but not as large as the company would want. If done correctly, we could avoid Project Rainfall like situations.

There are three reasons to drive a Porsche, but I tend to agree that only the first two count:

1) You're rich
2) You're desperate
3) You're a Porsche enthusiast

Don't get me wrong, I love the Porsche design, but I can't think of a single person I know who drives one who isn't desperately seeking attention. Usually it gets an adverse effect.

I was riding in a friend of mine's Porsche and he passed a car with two cute ladies in it, then dropped his head a bit. I asked "What's up?", and he responded "They're laughing at me. It's like everyone thinks I'm a douche because I have a nice car".

My response was, "If you stop passing people who are going 40 in a 35 zone I bet they'll stop thinking you are such an asshole."

I drove a 911 for 4 years. I didn't drive it for attention, nor because I'm desperate (nor would I want a chick who only wants me for my car) but, I drove it because it was fast and fun. :D

You fall into column 3.

I'd love to have a Porsche, but I have a no-luxury (house aside) clause. I'll wait spending my money on luxury items until I have a mid-life crisis, than it is top down, wallet out. I drool at the sight of a 1932 Ford Roadster and hope to own one, one day.

What's the Porsche that isn't considered a Porsche?

Yeah more or less. I like good looking fast cars regardless of brand. I hear you on the no-luxury clause but it was used, $7,000 and well worth it. :D

A Porsche that isn't considered a Porsche??? I'm tired so the only thing that comes to mind is the abomination SUV that they made.

There was a Porsche (not the Cayenne) that was nationally accepted by the Porsche owners of America car club. It wasn't the 511, but I believe it was a two door that had numbers and letters in the name. It looked like a 90's Ford Escort hatchback.

This will be driving me crazy all day.

edit* And of course my know it all Father knew the answer immediately. It's the Porsche 914. Standard issue didn't even come with a Porsche engine, but a VW one.

Nice.

But I prefer four wheels.

Something about the 1932 Roadster makes me want to simply drive for the rest of my natural life. No stereo either, just drive.

Random Thought:

Oh the rise and fall of Mr. Wacka flocka flame. One day he is on MTV, and this weekend he's performing at the Kinston, NC Drag strip, where the crowd has way more interest in fast cars than rappity rap music.

What is a bigger diss than telling another rapper that he has to resort to performing at race car events? Unless you're uncle cracker or whitey ford that is.

Oh and:

Every Museum of Natural History should require at least one real dinosaur fossil sculpture and one ancient Mummy with an open coffin. Standards people.

Fine fine, but they do have roadsters... Morgan is an odd company that has a huge racing backing and a super luxury side. Sadly they do not have many releases in the US, which makes them prohibitively expensive most of the time. The 3 wheeler is going to be 40+k when they are released here later this year.

That said, I still have my eyes on a 1929 Mercedes SSK replica
