I'd be all for new IPs I guess, but what I'd really like to see is Nintendo stop IGNORING their classic franchises. I mean okay, they revived the mediocre NES platformer Kid Icarus and beat our heads in with Marios and Zeldas, but where's:

F-Zero
Famicom [Nintendo] Wars
Actually good Star Fox games
2D Metroid
Panel De Pon

Seriously, the last F-Zero game came out in 2005. In Japan only. For GBA. Nothing against F-Zero Climax I mean I love it, but why the hell wasn't there an F-Zero game for DS or Wii, and why doesn't there seem to be one in the planning for WiiU or 3DS? F-Zero is one of the game franchises that makes me want to play Nintendo platforms.

The last Famicom Wars game was Days of Ruin, that's fairly recently. But I totally agree on a new 2D Metroid.

The laast Panel de Pon game was also quite recently, it was called Plant Puzzle League and was for DS. It was rereleased in cut down form for DSiWare too.

Nintendo has a bad habit of having a huge influx of Mario, bringing in a couple of games from other IPs, then another huge influx of Mario. Some of their IPs don't get good treatment either. We're finally getting a sequel to Luigi's Mansion. YEAH... oh its on 3DS... meh.

I'd dissapointed on how bad they treat some series. Star Fox hasn't had a real, full game since 64, and I never liked Donkey Kong all that much besides the original arcade game. Donkey Kong just had too many other, useless characters brought in. I also felt that most of the female characters were horribly ugly.

Nintendo is unfortunately probably not going to do much to push new IPs while the old ones are still reliably bringing in money. Probably the same reason why there's not much focus on their "second-string" franchises like Star Fox and Metroid which often just get farmed out to outside developers. Good in the case of Metroid Prime, kind of bad in the case of the Gamecube Star Fox games.

Metroid is in an interesting position as it is very well liked in the west but not so much in Japan. That probably contributes to the lack of releases over time.

Funny how once we got a Westernized Metroid it completely failed.

You mean like the Metroid Prime stuff? Yeah, those didn't do so hot.

For every Nintendo fan who wants something new or some action on a forgotten franchise, there are 1,000 slobbering addicts throwing their money at anything Nintendo deigns to release. They could produce New Super Mario Bros 14 3D Super Motion Gimmick Fresh and offer steaming shit in a bucket as the pre-order bonus, and the slobbering fans would demand extra shit in their bucket.

It's ridiculous.

What's ridiculous is how much a bucket of Shigeru Miyamoto's shit goes for these days. The man is literally flushing money down the drain.
