PSone official LCD display

Post by wip3outguy7 »

I'm going to meet with someone tomorrow to pick a PSone + official LCD display. I keep reading that the display is pretty reliable and should have plenty of life left in it if it has been taken care of.

I just needed some suggestions on what to look for. What normally fails? What should I check?

Aside from the obvious of making sure the screen does not have any dead pixels on it. Check and make sure any one of the speakers on the unit hasn't blown out or give you any static as you raise the volume.

Sometimes removing it and putting it back over and over again makes the AV input loose on it.

The same thing happens with the hinges. When they are old and overused, the hinge squeaks and gets floppy.

Mine is like this.

I did get this used some time ago.

One thing that happens too is that the screen may go all magenta/purple. Its happend to mine a few times. It might be related to the input being loose/messed up. Sometimes the screen flickers and gets darker too.

You can still plug the cable through the PS1 tv too. The PS1 will show the image on the lcd screen and the TV.

Yeah, also check the sound too. Some games treat the speakers better than others. Some stuff sounds tinny and some makes the little speakers work hard.

The LCD screen was available by itself and with the console.

I always wanted one of those little PSones with the screen to put in the bathroom.

Play some gaming in there, then when you are done, save and take the memory card back to the living room.

Got it. Super clean actually. I will probably take the PS One apart to make sure it's clean, but the display is immaculate. I'm going to run it for a few hours at my desk here at work just to put it through a trial. Got the proper SCPH-121 AC adapter and even the DC adapter with it, too.

Damn this thing's nice.
