I should get ps1 memory card to save on the ps2?

does any one sitll do ps1 mod-chips, and where to get backup games?

i am really scared of buying psx, because I feel they are a bit old and
to find a working one with no faults is going to be difficult, while i still can get
my hands on ps2's new, and they play all ps1 games?

any idea if it is better to get ps-one, you know the tiny one
Yes, PS3 has no problems what-so-ever playing PS1 games, regardless of PS3 model.

No the PS-ONEs aren't as reliable as the SCPH-500x or the SCPH 900x, these particular models have the better quality drive that doesn't suffer from the DRE issue that earlier models have. You can get the cartridges for the parallel port on ebay, as they are just technically cheat devices (with extra functions ;);)).

Maybe the model of ps2 that I'm running may be an issue?
Depends of the TV. I agree the games will look like shit on LCD tv. Fortunately, I also have a Sony CRT TV with component connection and the games look fantastic on it. As for you not seeing any picture for PS1 games, I don't know what's going on with your PS2. That has never happened to me before so I am not sure. Maybe you should try adjusting the settings???
When I use component cables on my slim ps2 to play ps1 games my little LCD tv splits the picture in half or it freezes after the start up screen. My tv is supposed to upscale, but doesn't. So I have to switch to composite cables when I play ps1 games, which makes them look pretty crappy. I can't figure out how to make any adjustments that will help.

Ps1 memory cards in my ps2 work perfect!! Ps2 memory card can also be used to back up your ps1 save files!!! Very handy since ther hold way more memory than the ps1 cards!

I'd avoid the psx model. Even though they look nice, the disc doors go bad alot and will pop open randomly while playing. Not fun when it happens just after a ff VII boss battle. arrghh.

Like niode said...get the models with paralell ports! It's a more durable model and you can use an action replay instead of modding it to play imports.
