Why people call Xbox "oXbox" here?

He's implying the console wasn't successful because it ended the generation in the red.

Re: Why people call Xbox "oXbox" here?
The first is "Xbox" the second is "360". Calling the second system the "Xbox" would be like calling the PS3 the "PlayStation". No one does it. "oXbox" is a redundant meme. "360" prevents any confusion and is more accurate.
The only aspect that lends any credence to "Xbox" meaning the 360 is the fact that the Xbox is quite literally dead. The chance that someone is actually playing an Xbox game, and not 360, when they say "I played some Xbox today" is virtually zero. For whatever reason, the 360 completely obsoleted the original and everyone seemed quite happy to dump the old games (Halo 2 being an exception). People are still playing PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games, so there is more chance for confusion.

So far Microsoft has only had that one lone succesful console. If Master System, Saturn and Dreamcast are failed consoles, then so is the Xbox. Sega lost 268 million dollars because of the Saturn while Microsoft lost 4 billion dollars because of the Xbox.Jrecee wrote:I was talking about sega.

I like how the second paragraph completely contradicts the first.Zing wrote:The first is "Xbox" the second is "360". Calling the second system the "Xbox" would be like calling the PS3 the "PlayStation". No one does it. "oXbox" is a redundant meme. "360" prevents any confusion and is more accurate.

Saying nobody calls the 360 "Xbox," and then elaborating on the fact that people often do.

Re: Why people call Xbox "oXbox" here?
In general conversation, whether online or in real life, I just call my 360, "Xbox." If I want to talk about the old one with friends and what not, usually I say "the old Xbox" or the "original XBox." I suppose on the forums though I would probably say 360, versus Xbox though. Of course game discussion probably renders the point moot. Chances are if I am or someone is talking about a game that was only on the old Xbox, not many people are going to get confused. If I said "I was playing Panzer Dragoon Orta for the Xbox" people would probably know what Xbox I was referring too.
