What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
Re: What single player FPS campaign are you playing?
My problem with the graphics were the animations not the look of the models or anything.
Let strength be granted, so the world might be mended...so the world might be mended.

This I would agree with. The game did feel a bit like a long animatronic Disneyland ride based on Bladerunner.Stark wrote:My problem with the graphics were the animations not the look of the models or anything.

Yeah the dialogue interaction animations were... a bit hilarious. But I got over it pretty quickly.
If I want writing/dialogue to put me to sleep I'll play a Bethesda game.

DXHR was my favourite game of 2011.. Granted, it had its flaws and I resorted to a trainer to enjoy the game a bit more, but there's little else to compare it to. Did Syndicate even try?
Oh and I just read that Doom 3 is going to be re-released as a full-priced title. id are so irrelevant to me now.. they just don't make great games any more, and their engines aren't staples in the industry either.

Ditto. DXHR was my favorite of last year too.
I thought I heard Doom 3 BFG was going to be $40... and it's got this "Lost Mission" pack that makes it almost look worth it alone to me. This really looks like straight up classic Doom inspired levels and stuff:

It truly is a bit hard to argue for it though. I think id could do way, way better here if they really cared because as everyone else out there is saying, this "enhanced" update practically looks no better than running it on max on the PC version. Then there's the flashlights, well everyone knows about the duct tape mods by now. So I don't know... but I enjoyed Doom 3 a lot so I'll probably sucker into this.

I have Deus Ex: HR, Portal 2, Skyrim and The Witcher 2 in my top spots for last year, I just can't make up my mind about where to rank them.

I'm keeping an eye on ID. They have confirmed DOOM 4 is coming, so I'm interested for no other reason than my addiction to killing demons.Pulsar_t wrote:DXHR was my favourite game of 2011.. Despite all the weirdness and crap that he got into and developed after leaving id, John Romero really did take an important piece of the puzzle with him. I miss his working with Carmack.

To be (sort of) fair, the BFG edition is more or less an HD rerelease, as is common these days (and at $30 for PC, $40 for console, fairly in-line pricewise). It includes DOOM and DOOM II, new maps, trophies, and better graphics (with 3D support) for the console versions. Not quite the value of some of the other collections, obviously, but in effect it is an HD collection.Pulsar_t wrote: Oh and I just read that Doom 3 is going to be re-released as a full-priced title. id are so irrelevant to me now.. they just don't make great games any more, and their engines aren't staples in the industry either.
With respect to technology, Carmack is building in support for head-mounted displays. Could be a gimmick, could be ahead of the curve. Regardless, there's a reason it's set to be included with the Oculus Rift VR headset. Effectively what they demoed the game on at E3.
