If you could make a film based on your fave game(s)....

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

If you could make a film based on your fave game(s)....

Post by REPO Man »

A) What game?
B) What kind of movie?
C) What would it be like, while using comparisons?
D) Who'd be in it?

I'll start:

Image
It would be EXACTLY like the game, with a fleshed-out plot and would be like your standard late '80s/early '90s action film (Die Hard, Last Action Hero, etc).

And it would star Robert Ri'chard (Cousin Skeeter, House of Wax remake) as Adam, Chris Violette (Power Rangers SPD, Diary of the Dead) as Axel, Paula Bracanti (plays Jane on Degrassi TNG) as Blaze (she looks EXACTLY like her), and Van-Damme as Mr. X

"hotlinking is not allowed"

1. I would make a movie based on Oblivion.
2. It would obviously be an epic along the lines of Lord of the Rings.
3. Like I said, sort of like Lord of the Rings.
4. I can't think of anybody right now.

Mass Effect, with a few modifications to the story. I have no idea who I'd cast though. Maybe Angelina Jolie as Ashley Williams and Nathan Fillion as Shepherd? Some of the themes of isolationism and racism that are in the game would make for a thought provoking Sci Fi movie that's about more than just killing evil aliens. Mass Effect is all about what does humanity do now that it is has discovered alien life? How do we fit into the greater intergalactic community? Might be better for a tv series, but I imagine stuff like that has been done in Sci Fi tv already, but not movies.

Shadow of the Colossus could easily make a great movie, though I don't know of many directors who could pull it off. Guillermo del Toro maybe. SOTC story is left open to interpretation so it would give a writer and director some flexibility. It would work nicely as a movie with little, if any dialogue. A little bit like Asif Kapadia's The Warrior. SOTC's scope is so cinematic it would work as an artsy movie, but with a few big budget action sequences and some of the most beautiful visuals ever put to film. There aren't enough truly great fantasy movies in Hollywood today anyway.

I don't know too much about the comic book that The Red Star is based on, but given what I saw in the game I think it could work as an awesome comic book movie.

Tomb Raider could make for a far better movie than the ones they've done already.

Hmm, had to think for a while. Only decent idea I got so far is Freedom Fighters. There's bound to be a movie or two out there that depicts Russians invading the US in a modern day "what if" war scenario, but I've yet to see any. I liked how the game had average joes becoming patriotic heroes in times of desperation. Their underground hideouts would definitely be featured to maintain how the heroes must hide like rats from the Soviet rule, and plan carefully. Kyd's soundtrack would be kept intact, and he would provide additional works for it. I'd like a relatively unknown but talented cast, as any big names might distract from those characters.

Flashback, Heart of the Alien and Out of This World would all make great movies with the right screenplay and art direction.

Someone above mentioned Shadow of the Colossus. How about Ico too?

Beyond Good and Evil would make a fantastic movie, animated or live action if done right. It's pretty close to being a movie as it is!

Hey Mozgus,

Have you ever seen Red Dawn? Patrick Swayze knows how to fight the red menace. There's even talk of a remake.

Haha, hmm. Maybe I'll check it out. IMDB isnt too fond of it, but they generally dont know what they're talking about. Dark Knight is the number 1 highest rated movie of all time on IMDB last time I checked, so...yeah.

1) Duke Nukem 64 :P
2) Duh action style with a bad ass guy with no emo past because yeah there are no more badasses in games and movies anymore. They usually just weild some guns or swords and can't stop crying over their past.
3) Something like Predator 2
4) I dunno who would star but some new undiscovered talent. NOT VIN DISEL.

Come on Duke Nukem would be great. He went out to save the world because the aliens were ruining his T.V. watching :P. And besides he has great one liners.

"It's time to kick ass and chew gum, and I'm all out of gum"

We need more movies like this.... sigh *goes to watch First Blood, Predator, total recall, etc"
